Patent number: 11956251Abstract: An internet service provider (ISP) is configured to analyze data sent by a user to determine a subscriber account associated with the data and a user associated with the data. A database is then queried to determine the number of users of the subscriber account, with a number above a threshold indicating a likely theft of service. This automatic process is accompanied by automated messaging to the user with information as to the measures taken and remedial options. The messaging may be different dependent on whether the user is deemed to be an authorized user having subscriber account administration rights.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2023Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: PERFTECH, INC.Inventors: Jonathan E. Schmidt, John A. Murphy, Henry M. Donzis, Lewis T. Donzis, Peter W. Baron, Rodney D. Frey

Patent number: 11947135Abstract: A light control film is described comprising alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions disposed between a light input surface and a light output surface. The absorptive regions have an aspect ratio of at least 30. In some embodiments, the alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions have a transmission as measured with a spectrophotometer at a viewing angle of 0 degrees of at least 35, 40, 45, or 50% for a wavelength of the range 320-400 nm (UV) and/or at least 65, 70, 75, or 80% for a wavelength of the range 700-1400 nm (NIR). In another embodiment, the absorptive regions block light at the light input surface and light output surface and the maximum surface area that is blocked is less than 20% of the total alternating transmissive regions and absorptive regions. Also described are various optical communication systems comprising the light control films described herein and methods.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2018Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: 3M INNOVATIVE PROPERTIES COMPANYInventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 5299111Abstract: A device for directing a beam of light from a light source to a predetermined view range. The device is particularly suitable for installation inside the visor of a traffic signal, although other applications will be apparent. Two or more baffles are selectively positioned within a hollow housing. The baffles are uniformly formed and each has a plurality of apertures. The baffles are thin plates and are aligned so that each set of corresponding apertures creates a tunnel for a portion of a beam of light from the light source. Due to the thinness of the baffles, the "tunnels" have no walls and no substantial surface area to deflect light rays outside the selected view range. This provides a sharp on-off effect at the periphery of the view range. Yet, a "full ball" effect is provided within the view range.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1991Date of Patent: March 29, 1994Inventors: A. Philip Parduhn, Michael N. Fiske, John D. Schmidt

Patent number: 4736373Abstract: A memory tester for testing a matrix of memory elements, such matrix having spare rows and columns of memory elements to be used for repair of the memory under test. The memory tester tests the memory matrix to derive failure data and stores the failure data in corresponding rows and columns in a second memory matrix. Failure data in the second memory is scanned, in a first pass, row-by-row and during the first pass scan when the number of failures in any row exceeds the number of spare columns that row is flagged for replacement. Next, in a second pass, the columns of failure data are scanned column-by-column and during the second pass when the number of failures in any column exceeds the number of spare rows, that column is flagged for replacement. If, during either of the first or second pass, the number of flagged rows or columns, respectively, exceeds a certain number, such as the spare rows or columns, that pass is interrupted and the analysis jumps to the next pass.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1981Date of Patent: April 5, 1988Assignee: Pacific Western Systems, Inc.Inventor: John D. Schmidt

Patent number: 4530584Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a first elongate member is slidably associated with a second elongate member, and the second member is extendable relative to the first member. The second elongate member is arrestable and securable in various positions relative to the first member. An angle-shaped camera support has tubular members attached to each leg of the support, and selectively each tubular member slidably receives the second elongate member. A camera is mountable on one leg of the support and may be releasably arrested and as desired secured releasably in various locations on the second elongate member. In another embodiment of the invention, a main body portion has an extending arm to which is pivotably mounted a camera support shelf. The main body portion is slidable upon the second elongate member, and it is releasably arrestable and securable as desired in various positions on the second elongate member.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Inventor: John D. Patent number: 4496228Abstract: A camera support including an angle-shaped base is releasably mountable to an extendable telescopic tubular leg member. The angle-shaped base includes two legs and a tubular member fixed to each leg. The telescopic member has an upper slide section and a lower base section. The upper slide section being slidably disposed in one of the tubular members of the angular-shaped base. The lower base section is slotted longitudinally and grooved peripherally such that when a clamp is fitted into the grooves and actuated, the base is releasably secured in selected positions along the upper slide section. The base member may be manually arrested when the camera is in a first and a second picture taking attitude and the base member is slidably supported by upper slide section. In some instances the upper slide section may be removed from the lower base section and used independently.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1982Date of Patent: January 29, 1985Inventor: John D.
