The display of the notification mechanism may be selectively illuminated in a variety of lighting configurations based, for example, upon gameplay activity of a player of the gaming machine. The casino management server is further configured to receive instructions from the EUD such that the player plays a game operated on the electronic casino device by physically interacting with the EUD, wherein the instructions received from the EUD include a low-bandwidth instruction including no more than two bytes.
