Publication number: 20230104111Abstract: One or more acoustic parameters of a current acoustic environment of a user may be determined based on sensor signals captured by one or more sensors of the device. One or more preset acoustic parameters may be determined based on the one or more acoustic parameters of the current acoustic environment of the user and an acoustic environment of an audio file comprising audio signals that is determined based on the audio signals of the audio file or metadata of the audio file. The audio signals may be spatially rendered by applying spatial filters that include the one or more preset acoustic parameters to the audio signals, resulting in binaural audio signals. The binaural audio signals may be used to drive speakers of a headset. Other aspects are described and claimed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2022Publication date: April 6, 2023Inventors: Prateek Murgai, John E. Arthur, Joshua D. Atkins, Juha O. Patent number: 10815761Abstract: A process for producing hydrocarbons from a subterranean hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir includes injecting a gas, at a pressure below a minimum miscibility pressure, into the reservoir through an injection well extending into the reservoir to form a gas zone in the reservoir. The gas injection pressure is suitable to provide a differential pressure between a bottom-hole production well pressure at a horizontal multi-lateral production well extending into the reservoir, and the gas injection pressure to facilitate sweeping the hydrocarbons toward the production well prior to gas breakthrough at the production well.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2018Date of Patent: October 27, 2020Assignee: Cenovus Energy Inc.Inventors: John E. Arthur, Jarrett Dragani, Nadim Kassam, Michael Bumstead

Patent number: 8770281Abstract: A method for recovering hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir by operating a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process with two adjacent well pairs. Each well pair includes an injector well and a producer well. A mobilized zone forms around each well pair through the gravity-controlled recovery process, and a bypassed region forms between the adjacent well pairs when the respective mobilized zone of each well pair merge to form a common mobilized zone. A plurality of infill producer wells are provided in the bypassed region. The plurality of infill producer wells are operated to establish fluid communication between the plurality of infill producer wells and the common mobilized zone. Once fluid communication is established, the plurality of infill producer wells and the adjacent well pairs are operated under a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process, and hydrocarbons are recovered from the plurality of infill producer wells and from the producer wells.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2011Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Cenovus Energy Inc.Inventors: John E. Arthur, Simon D. Gittins, Harbir S. Chhina

Publication number: 20120081392Abstract: An electronic device and methods of use thereof are described. The electronic device having at least a front facing image capture device and a front facing display device arranged to display visual content is described. In one embodiment, the front facing camera can capture an image that can include at least image content. The image content can process in such a way that an operational state of the electronic device is modified in accordance with processed image content. In a particular embodiment, the modification of the current operating state can include aligning an orientation of visual content presented by the front facing display with a current facial orientation of a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2010Publication date: April 5, 2012Applicant: APPLE INC.Inventor: John E. Patent number: 7556099Abstract: A method for recovering hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir by operating a first injector-producer well pair under a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process, the first injector-producer well pair forming a first mobilized zone, operating a second injector-producer well pair under a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process, the second injector-producer well pair forming a second mobilized zone, the first injector-producer well pair and the second injector-producer well pair together being the adjacent well pairs, providing an infill well in a bypassed region, the bypassed region formed between the adjacent well pairs when the first mobilized zone and the second mobilized zone merge to form a common mobilized zone, operating the infill well to establish fluid communication between the infill well and the common mobilized zone, operating the infill well and the adjacent well pairs under a substantially gravity-controlled recovery process, and recovering hydrocarbons from the infill wellType: GrantFiled: June 13, 2007Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: Encana CorporationInventors: John E. Patent number: 5796368Abstract: A wave reflecting dish is constructed to provide a one piece unit having a hollow, watertight region between a first external surface having a paraboloidal contour and a second external surface which includes a base. Heater elements are positioned in the hollow region on a surface opposite the first external surface. Insulating material cover the heater elements and the hollow region is filled with a foam material. Snow, ice, and water drainage from the first surface is provided through a hole which extends through the unit from the first surface to the second surface. Provisions for mounting wave emitting and receiving apparatus are provided within the first surface. Attachment pads for mounting the dish on an external structure are provided on the base.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1996Date of Patent: August 18, 1998Assignee: Lockleed Martin CorporationInventor: John E. Arthur, III

Patent number: 5502454Abstract: A shell structure for a collinear coaxial element array antenna is made of electrical conducting material and includes first and second circular sections separated by a web. The first circular section has an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the diameter of an inner conductor in a coaxial line element of the array antenna, while the second circular section has an inner diameter that is equal to that of an outer conductor of a coaxial transmission line element. The separations of the centers of the first and second circular sections are established by the wed to be equal to the distance between the centers of two adjacent coaxial transmission line elements in the array antenna. The inner conductor of a coaxial transmission line element is inserted in the first circular section and is electrically connected thereto.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1994Date of Patent: March 26, 1996Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: Thomas J. Patent number: 5285211Abstract: An array of collinear coaxial lines utilizes standard size brass tubing with brass rods inserted therein to establish each half-wavelength coaxial section. A coupler positioned between each half-wavelength section has an outer conductor supports and through passages for the inner conductor. Inner conductors of the transmission line elements are soldered to the outer conductors of the respective adjacent transmission line elements so that all elements are excited with the same phase and polarity. Air dielectric between the inner and outer conductors provides a transmission line wavelength equal to that of free space so that the length of each element in the array is a free space half-wavelength long, thereby providing an antenna gain greater than that achievable with transmission lines having solid dielectric supporting the inner conductor.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1992Date of Patent: February 8, 1994Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: John C. Herper, Anthony M. Bucceri, Jr., John E. Arthur, III
