  • Publication number: 20100193564
Abstract: An apparatus and method for adjusting the handle position of a pneumatic fastener handle. The pneumatic fastener includes a base, a main body, and a magazine for carrying fastening members. The main body and magazine are fixed to the base. A pneumatic inlet is mounted onto the main body. A handle assembly is mounted on the main body of the pneumatic fastener. The handle assembly includes a housing having a hollow recessed area. The housing can have an aperture through a lateral side configured to receive a retaining member. A handle extends partially within the housing and is configured to move between at least a first position and a second position, different from the first position. When the handle is in a desired position, the retaining member secures the handle in place within the housing.

  • Patent number: 7753243
Abstract: A fastening tool can include a housing and a motor assembly in the housing. The motor assembly can include an output member and a motor for translating the output member. A contact trip assembly can include a contact trip slidably disposed relative to the housing between an advanced position and a retracted position. The contact trip assembly can be operable to activate a contact trip switch in the retracted position. A lock-out mechanism can include a paddle rotatably fixed relative to the housing between a disengaged position wherein the contact trip is permitted to slide between the advanced and retracted position and an engaged position wherein the contact trip abuts the paddle thereby precluding movement of the contact trip to the advanced position.

  • Patent number: 7699566
Abstract: A tool chuck may include a chuck body defining a longitudinal axis. A sleeve may be mounted on the chuck body and axially fixed relative to the chuck body. A clutch part may be provided on the sleeve. The clutch part may interact with a cooperating clutch part mounted on the power driver housing. The cooperating clutch part may be mounted on the power driver housing for movement between a first axial position in which the chuck body is rotatable together with the sleeve, and a second axial position in which the chuck body is rotatable relative to the sleeve to actuate the tool chuck. The chuck body may be rotatable in a first direction to actuate the tool chuck up to a first torque threshold, and rotatable in a second direction to actuate the tool chuck up to a second, different torque threshold.

  • Patent number: 7686591
Abstract: A portable air compressor assembly includes a tubular frame having a pair of parallelogram shaped side sections. A support plate is connected between the side sections and horizontally positioned in a compressor normal operating position. A plurality of operating components connect to the support plate. A fluid pressure tank is supported perpendicular to the side sections and forward of the operating components. The frame envelopes the operating components' outer perimeter and angularly extends to a stop point rearward of the operating components. When tipped rearward to the stop point, the compressor assembly returns by gravity to the compressor normal operating position. An instrument and connector panel including an engine on/off switch is mounted in a protected position. Wheels and structural feet are removable and a handle is retractable and removable for shipping.

  • Patent number: 7677425
Abstract: A fastening tool can include a housing and a motor assembly in the housing. The motor assembly can include an output member and a motor for translating the output member. A knob can be rotatably mounted in the housing around a first axis and define a plurality of locating formations arranged thereon. An adjustment rod can be operatively coupled for movement with the knob. A lower contact trip can be coupled to the adjustment rod. An indexing member can be movable along a second axis parallel to the first axis. The indexing member can be selectively biased into engagement with one of the locating formations upon rotation of the knob to resist rotation of the knob relative to the housing. Rotation of the knob can cause the contact trip to translate toward and away from the housing to define a desired penetration depth for the fastener.
