Patent number: 10271008Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for enhanced resolution video and security via machine learning are disclosed. A transmitter reduces a resolution of each image of a videostream from a first, higher image resolution to a second, lower image resolution. The transmitter generates a set of parameters for programming a neural network to reconstruct a version of each image at the first image resolution. Then, the transmitter sends the images at the second image resolution to the receiver, along with the first set of parameters. The receiver programs a neural network with the first set of parameters and uses the neural network to reconstruct versions of the images at the first image resolution. The transmitter can send the first set of parameters to the receiver via a secure channel, ensuring that only the receiver can decode the images from the second image resolution to the first image resolution.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2017Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.Inventors: Mauricio Breternitz, John E. Owen, Jr.

Patent number: 7044322Abstract: A low-profile secondary seal for floating-roof storage tanks has a tip seal that includes a series of segmental adapter plates connected to the shoe plates. A tip seal element is mounted on the adapter plates. A fabric extends between the tip seal and the floating roof. A pusher is hinged to the floating roof, and includes a pusher bar with two ends that are disposed in a sliding arrangement against the adapter plates. A spring is connected to the pusher at an inclined angle, providing a mechanical advantage as the spring biases the pusher and pusher bar outwardly against the plates, pressing the tip seal against the tank shell.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2002Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: Chicago Bridge & Iron CompanyInventors: John E. Owens, Roger J. Orner, Terry A. Gallagher

Patent number: 6957961Abstract: A manikin system is provided for testing product safety, and a method of making the manikin system is also provided. The manikin system includes a trunk portion and a plurality of body portions. The plurality of body portions includes a neck portion detachably connected to the trunk portion, a pair of arm portions detachably connected to the trunk portion, a hand portion detachably connected to each arm portion, a pair of leg portions detachably connected to the trunk portion, and a foot portion detachably connected to each leg portion. The body portions and trunk portion are formed of a bio-simulating material. Each of the body portions has selected characteristics and is removable and replaceable with another body portion having different characteristics. The manikin may provide accurate measurement of physical effects of hazardous conditions on a child and flexible and offer flexibility to change manikin test fixtures easily.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2003Date of Patent: October 25, 2005Assignee: Ram Consulting, Inc.Inventors: John E. Owens, Scott M. Milkovich, Daniel K. Stool

Patent number: 6910896Abstract: An apparatus is provided for simulating and monitoring a respiration pattern of a human. The apparatus generally includes a reservoir having an outlet, and actuator disposed in the reservoir for moving fluid in and out of the reservoir, and a control unit coupled to the actuator for controlling the actuator to simulate and monitor a respiration pattern of a human. Also, a method is provided for simulating and monitoring a respiration pattern of a human. The method includes steps of generating a waveform defining the respiration pattern and controlling an actuator to move fluid in and out of a reservoir based on the waveform. The apparatus and method can accurately simulate and monitor a respiration pattern of a human, especially an infant and a young child, and offer a flexibility to stimulate variety of respiration patterns.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2001Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: Ram Consulting, Inc.Inventors: John E.
