The rat cage includes a cage bottom having a plurality of integral side walls, a floor and an open top end. The floor has a length and a width such that the area of the floor is between 80 square inches and a 140 square inches.

The rack includes at least one air exhaust plenum, and at least one canopy disposed within the rack. The canopy is capable of supporting a first cage within the rack above the canopy, and also positioning a second cage below the canopy so as to maintain a gap between the top of the second cage and the canopy to permit air to be drawn into the air exhaust plenum from the interior of the second cage through the top of the second cage and to also permit ambient air to be drawn across the top of the second cage into the air exhaust plenum.

Abstract: A device for regulating exhaust air flow in a ventilation system when a rack is removed from the system. The device includes a housing forming an air conduit. A valve is mounted in the housing with the valve being moveable between an open position when the device is connected to the rack, and in one of a plurality of partially preset closed positions when the device is not connected to the rack. A valve adjustment member selects the one of a plurality of partially closed positions and is preset during factory testing. When valve is installed at facility and valve is removed from rack the adjustment is fully automatic. The technician merely disconnects the exhaust drop hose with valve attached, and valve automatically adjusts to a preset back pressure duplication position (partially closed position).

The multiple dosage feeder includes a frame having a cage-interior side, a food holding member rotatably mounted on the frame, and a food presentation member disposed on the cage-interior side of the frame. The food holding member holds a plurality of measured dosages of food or other substances, and at least a portion of the food holding member extends to the cage-interior side of the frame. The food presentation member permits access to a single dosage of the plurality of dosages by an animal within the cage. At least a portion of the food holding member is rotatable within the food presentation member so as to expose the single dosage of the plurality of dosages, while the food presentation member prevents access to any remaining dosages on the cage-interior side of the frame.

Abstract: An animal cage rack locking mechanism is provided for releasable locking a cage to an animal cage rack. An indexing arm disposed in a sleeve extends into the slide path of the cage and is coupled to a locking arm also disposed in the sleeve. When the cage is slid into the rack, the indexing arm causes the locking arm to extend from the sleeve to lock the cage in place.

Abstract: An animal feeder that can be mounted on a wall of an animal cage includes a feeder assembly including a back wall, a trough region integrally formed with the back wall and a front wall integrally formed with the trough region and a securing member for securing the feeder asssembly to the wall of the cage. The feeder assembly includes a plurality of slots providing the animal access to a food item placed therein. The animal feeder may include a perch assembly releasably mounted to the feeder assembly. The perch assembly which includes a perch constructed from a plurality of wires, includes a mounting assembly for releasably mounting said perch assembly to said feeder assembly.
