  • Patent number: 4258463
Abstract: A tool (12) for mounting a track assembly (11) on a track-type vehicle comprises first (18) and second (39) attachments for being interconnected between a drive sprocket (10) and the track assembly (11). A flexible connector (35) has its ends attached to the first attachment (18) and is further attached to the second attachment (39). In carrying forth the method, the sprocket (10) is rotated to dispose the free ends of the track assembly (11) adjacent to each other for connection by a master link (16) or pin (42). The tool and method provide for the expeditious and safe mounting of the track assembly (11) on the vehicle, including smaller-sized ones.

  • Patent number: 4159750
Abstract: An adapter particularly suited for use in preloading bearings in the final drive of a crawler-type vehicle, including a plate adapted to be mounted concentrically with the sprocket shaft of a final drive, securing devices associated with the plate for securing the plate in concentric relation to the sprocket shaft, a stub shaft extending from one side of the plate, an arm rotatably mounted on the stub shaft and having a radial part extending beyond the periphery of the plate and an axial part terminating in an end on the side of the plate opposite of the stub shaft, a jaw mounted on the end of the arm and adapted to engage a bearing adjusting nut on the final drive, and a torque receiving formation on the arm for receiving a rotative force from a torque wrench or the like and being generally concentrically located with respect to the stub shaft.

  • Patent number: 4022341
Abstract: A lifting device for handling earth moving vehicle tire rim assemblies, which may weigh several thousand pounds, requiring machinery for lifting and maneuvering such assemblies for removal from an earth moving vehicle and replacement onto such a vehicle. The assembly can be suspended from the end of a lifting crane to lift and properly maneuver the weight involved and provides a standard which can be attached to the rim assembly exteriorly of the tire thereon and is so shaped and proportioned for proper maneuvering of the assembly relative to an earth moving vehicle for removal and attachment of the assembly to the vehicle.
