  • Patent number: 5074470
Abstract: A composite valving rod is provided for use in a foam dispensing apparatus having a low friction plastic sleeve portion that is retained by a steel tip which both maintains the physical dimensions of the plastic sleeve and serves as a scraper when drawn through the bore of the foam dispensing cartridge. The cartridge is all metal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 2, 1990
Date of Patent: December 24, 1991
    Assignee: Olin Corporation
Inventors: William F. Rosenplanter, John F. Zwirlein, Jr., James R. Noel, Thomas P. Patrosh
  • Patent number: 5040728
Abstract: A composite valving rod is provided for use in a foam dispensing apparatus having a low friction material sleeve portion that is retained by scraping surfaces on opposing ends which both maintain the physical dimensions of the plastic sleeve and serve as scraper when drawn through the bore of the foam dispensing cartridge. The cartridge is non-resilient and has at least one elongated groove therein to receive the scraped residual foam.

  • Patent number: 4204977
Abstract: An improvement in an on-site foam generating apparatus which includes storage tanks for supplying the foam-forming reactants, a mixing chamber, and means for conveying the reactants through the mixing chamber. The improvement comprises means for cleaning the mixing chamber including a solvent storage tank and means for recovering the solvent within the apparatus and recycling the solvent through the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4073664
Abstract: An improvement in an on-site foam generating apparatus which includes storage tanks for supplying the foam-forming reactants, a mixing chamber, and means for conveying the reactants through the mixing chamber. The improvement comprises means for automatically cleaning and flushing the mixing chamber. When the foam gun head containing the mixing chamber is at rest and inverted in an opening on the top of a solvent storage tank, solvent is continuously recycled through the mixing chamber. When the foam gun head is removed from the tank, a proximity switch senses the absence of metal and actuates an electrical circuit to operate a solenoid valve to divert the solvent from the mix chamber to a by-pass back to the tank. Additionally, a time delay relay is actuated which operates a solenoid valve for a predetermined period to supply purging gas to and through the mixing chamber upon removal of the foam gun head from the tank.
