  • Patent number: 9227715
Abstract: A gear case assembly for a marine propulsion system has a gear case having a first end adapted to connect the gear case to a remainder of the marine propulsion system, and a second end disposed opposite the first end. A driveshaft is disposed at least in part in the gear case. A propeller shaft, operatively connected to an end of the driveshaft, is disposed at an angle thereto. The end of the driveshaft and at least a portion of the propeller shaft are disposed in a transmission chamber defined in the gear case. An expansion port is defined in the gear case. A container, defining an expansion chamber, is disposed outside the gear case. The expansion port fluidly communicates the transmission chamber with the expansion chamber. An outboard engine is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8327827
Abstract: An internal combustion engine is disclosed, having at least one combustion chamber disposed in an engine casing. At least one fuel injector is mounted to the engine casing for supplying fuel to the at least one combustion chamber. The at least one fuel injector has at least one fuel supply inlet. A fuel supply assembly is mounted to the at least one fuel injector. The assembly is mounted adjacent to the at least one fuel injector for supplying the fuel to the fuel injector. The assembly has at least one fuel supply outlet. The assembly is mounted to the at least one fuel injector by a cooperative fit, such that the at least one fuel supply inlet and the at least one fuel supply outlet align in a sealed relationship to allow fluid communication therebetween. A method of assembling an engine is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8162632
Abstract: A pump is disclosed, having a pumping chamber in the rotor. The rotor is rotatable between first, second, third and fourth positions. When the rotor is in the first position, an inlet cam assembly displaces a piston to draw fluid into the pumping chamber via a first housing inlet. When the rotor is in the second position, an outlet cam assembly displaces the piston to expel fluid out of the pumping chamber via a first housing outlet. When the rotor is in the third position, the inlet cam lobe assembly displaces the piston to draw fluid into the pumping chamber via a second housing inlet. When the rotor is in the fourth position, the outlet cam assembly displaces the piston to expel fluid out of the pumping chamber via a second housing outlet. A method of pumping fluid is also disclosed.
