  • Publication number: 20100206396
Abstract: The invention relates to a pre-assembled constructional unit (1) of a fresh air system (2) for an internal combustion engine, especially of a motor vehicle. Said constructional unit comprises an electrical unit (3) having respective coils (5) for a plurality of cylinders of the internal combustion engine for actuating a fuel injection valve, said electrical unit having an electric wiring (6) for actuating the coils (5), a plurality of parallel insertion openings (10) that extend coaxially through the coils (5), and a plastic element (9) that is injection-molded on the coils (5) and the wiring (6).

  • Patent number: 7370622
Abstract: An induction system is designed for an engine that includes a manifold having a plenum in fluid communication with primary runners. A plenum valve is arranged between first and second chambers of the plenum that are respectively in fluid communication with first and second sets of the primary runners. The plenum valve is configured to move between open and closed positions to regulate flow between the first and second chambers. A secondary runner is arranged upstream from and in fluid communication with the plenum. The secondary runner includes first and second runner portions with the second runner portion being shorter than the first runner portion. A runner valve is arranged in the secondary runner between the first and second runner portions and is configured to selectively direct flow through the first and second runner portions to the plenum to obtain a desired effective tuning length.

  • Patent number: 7281512
Abstract: An intake manifold assembly (10) includes a plenum (14) and a variable volume assembly (20). The variable volume assembly (20) includes a deformable member (22) and a biasing member (24). The biasing member (24) positions the deformable member (22) at a predetermined position in response to a vacuum pressure within the plenum (14) to define a volume within the deformable member (22) to change the operational characteristics of the intake manifold assembly (10).

  • Patent number: 6902778
Abstract: Plastic parts are formed to have a relatively high wall stiffness by utilizing a pair of spaced plastic plates. One of the plates may be a simple plate. The other plate has a plurality of ribs extending from a base. The ribs are welded to the other plate. Use of the ribs provides a relatively high degree of stiffness to the final molded plastic part, for a relatively lightweight part.

  • Publication number: 20040255892
Abstract: An intake manifold assembly (10) includes a plenum volume (14) and a variable volume assembly (20). The variable volume assembly (20) includes a deformable member (22) and a resilient member (24). The resilient member (24) positions the deformable member (22) at a predetermined position in response to a vacuum pressure within the plenum (14) to define a volume within the deformable member (22) to change the operational characteristics of the intake manifold assembly (10).
