Publication number: 20210290149Abstract: A system for generating indications of neurological impairment is described. Baseline test data is gathered from neurological functioning tests performed on individuals at regular intervals via mobile devices. The system receives test data and updates baselines of expected neurological functioning for individuals. After an individual experiences an impairment, the system receives post-impairment test data from a mobile device associated with the individual and probabilistically determines a likelihood that the post-impairment test data is indicative of neurological impairment, and the system outputs an indication of the likelihood thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2019Publication date: September 23, 2021Inventors: Christopher Mazza, Sanjeev Sharma, John Gardiner

Publication number: 20200060463Abstract: A coffee brewing apparatus comprising a canister for holding coffee grounds and hot water in which the coffee brews. The canister has a closable opening through which the coffee grounds and hot water are poured. A filter covers an opening at the bottom of the canister through which brewed coffee flows out of the canister. A hand pump is coupled to an opening in the canister, operable to increase air pressure inside the canister. The canister inhibits the leakage of air or liquid while the coffee is brewing. The hand pump is used to increase air pressure inside the canister to a high pressure sufficient to push the brewed coffee through the filter and out of the canister.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2018Publication date: February 27, 2020Inventors: John Gardiner, Taylor Carcasole, Grant Unsworth

Publication number: 20150019661Abstract: A method of assessing transaction-level interoperability over a Tactical Data Link (TDL) (104) is provided. The method includes obtaining (202) transaction model data for a platform (102) and/or a TDL standard (105), the data representing a plurality of transactions and a plurality of messages that stimulate particular said transactions. Message data representing a message to be transferred over the TDL is obtained and then the message data is used (206A) with the transaction model data to assess which of the plurality of transactions the message represented by the message data will stimulate according to the transaction model. The method may also/alternatively obtain (204B) transaction data representing a desired transaction to be stimulated from amongst the plurality of transactions, and then use (206B) the transaction data with the transaction model data to assess which of the plurality of messages will stimulate the desired transaction according to the transaction model.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2013Publication date: January 15, 2015Applicant: BAE SYSTEMS plcInventors: Julian Frazer Ewart Johnson, Christopher Kenneth Holmes, John Gardiner

Patent number: 8417783Abstract: A system and method for removing ineffective features from a spam feature set. In particular, in one embodiment of the invention, the an entropy value is calculated for the feature set based on the effectiveness of the feature set at differentiating between ham and spam. Features are then removed one at a time and the entropy is recalculated. Features which increase the overall entropy are removed and features which decrease the overall entropy are retained. In another embodiment of the invention, the value of certain type of time consuming features (e.g., rules) is determined based on both the information gain associated with the features and the time consumed implementing the features. Those features which have relatively low information gain and which consume a significant amount of time to implement are removed from the feature set.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2006Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Proofpoint, Inc.Inventors: Vipul Sharma, John Gardiner Myers, Steve Lewis
