  • Patent number: 9018591
Abstract: A tool comprising a tool body having an opening defined by interior walls extending into the tool body and a casing disposed within the opening. The tool further includes a scintillator material disposed within the casing and a first compressive member disposed within the tool body at a first axial location. The first axial location extends for a fraction of a total axial length of the casing and exerts a first radially compressive force at the first axial location.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 17, 2011
Date of Patent: April 28, 2015
Assignee: Saint-Gobain Ceramics & Plastics, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5277436
Abstract: In combination, a hand truck having a unidirectional wheel control ratchet and an adjustable length stair ramp are operable for transporting heavy loads of cargo up flights of stairs. A ratchet wheel and pawl assembly is attached to the wheels of the hand truck to limit the direction of rotation of the wheels to a backward rotation. The stair ramp includes two telescoping U-shaped ramp channels which are spaced so that the wheels of the hand truck can roll within the channels and the ramp further includes upper and lower footing cross members which are pivotally connected to the upper and lower ends of the ramp channels. When the ramp is in place on a flight of stairs the telescoping and pivoting qualities of the ramp allow the channels to rest on the apices of the stair steps. The wheel control ratchets permit a heavily loaded hand truck to be pulled up the stairs along the ramp channels without fear of the hand truck rolling forward and down the ramp.

  • Patent number: 4822237
Abstract: Extended-reach lift apparatus for remote accessing of low-clearance areas is provided. The apparatus includes a vehicle whose frame supports a vertically pivotable telescoping boom which is elevatable by means of hydraulic rams. An extended tilt head is provided on the free end of the boom which includes parallel upper and lower link members of equal length. A work implement support having a discrete work implement tilting cylinder is attached to the remote ends of the upper and lower links of the tilt head. A hydraulic cylinder extending between the boom and the lower link of the tilt head provides separate tiltability of the tilt head while the design of the tilt head mechanically assures the maintenance of the attitude of the work implement without requiring additional hydraulic compensation during such tilting.

  • Patent number: 4346734
Abstract: A locking device to keep two spaced apart positionable heads in place. The disclosed locking device can keep two hex shaped adjustable relief valve heads (34,44) in place. The locking device (10) is punched out of a flat thin sheet metal plate. An elongated opening (12) punched out in the plate has a length (14) which is greater than the furthest separation of the two adjustable heads (34,44). The in flat width (16) of the elongated opening (12) in the sheet metal plate is large enough to fit over the adjustable heads. During use, the plate is bent to decrease the effective width of the opening (12) so that it is smaller than the associated adjustable heads. The locking device (10) is then forced over the two heads (34,44) to engage a flat portion thereof and prevent relative movement.
