  • Patent number: 5014613
Abstract: A roll baling machine includes a main frame, a tailgate pivotally connected to the main frame, and an apron extending around a plurality of guide rolls disposed in the main frame and in the tailgate. A pair of take up arms are rotatably mounted in the tailgate and carry an additional guide roll for the apron. A pair of levers are connected to rotate with the take up arms, and springs are connected to the levers to urge the take up arms into a bale starting position. The machine is provided with a twine wrapper, and a mechanism for automatically tripping the twine wrapper into operation comprises a cam surface on one of the levers engageable with a cam roller carried on a first link. This first link is rotatably mounted on the main frame and is connected to a sliding member which is movable toward and away from a tripping position. The tripping mechanism also includes second, third and fourth links connecting the first link to the sliding member.

  • Patent number: 4802395
Abstract: A knife assembly for a net dispensing apparatus used on a round baler is disclosed wherein the knife assembly is moved into a cutting position engageable with the netting material without imparting impact energy into the netting material. The knife assembly includes a knife holder having a curved portion wrapped concentrically around a pivot shaft and a detachable knife member. When the knife assembly is moved into a cutting position, the netting material forms an angle around the cutting edge of the knife member with a portion of the netting material extending generally parallel to the plane of the plane of the knife member. The tension applied to the netting material by reason of the net dispenser feed roll being halted and the cylindrical bale continuing in rotation pulls the netting material across the cutting edge of the knife member to effect a severance thereof.

  • Patent number: 4790125
Abstract: A net dispensing mechanism for a round baler is disclosed wherein a pair of pinch rollers are cooperable with a driven feed roller to feed netting material from a source of supply into the bale forming mechanism of the round baler so that the finished round bale can be wrapped with an external layer of netting before being ejected from the baler. The pinch rollers are mounted on opposing sides of the feed roller and are adjustable relative thereto to permit proper engagement of both pinch rollers with the feed roller to allow proper feeding of net therebetween. An overcenter linkage is connected to the mechanism mounting the pinch rollers to affect a movement of the pinch rollers between engaged and disengaged positions for selectively permitting the threading of net between the pinch rollers and the feed roll. One embodiment has both pinch rollers mounted on a pivot arm which is pivitally mounted on an eccentric to permit an adjustment of the position of the pinch rollers relative to the feed roller.

  • Patent number: 4768431
Abstract: A drive mechanism for a net dispensing apparatus used on a round baler wherein a resilient feed roller is operably driven by a drive belt powered from the main drive train for the round baler. A tensioning pulley is connected to a pivot arm pivotally mounted on the round baler and pivotally movable into and out of engagement with the drive belt by a linear actuator. The knife utilized to cut the netting material is interconnected with the pivot arm by a connecting link such that the pivotal rotation of the knife into and out of a cutting position is synchronized with the clutching and declutching of the feed roller drive. A lockout arm is also provided to engage a key on the shaft of the feed roller to positively restrain the feed roller from further rotation. The movement of the lockout arms is also synchronized to the movement of the tensioning pulley.
