  • Patent number: 7444627
Abstract: A system and method for generating a performance tool includes a builder, a seeker, and a catalyst. The builder is used to generate the seeker. The seeker is selected for operation, thereby launching the catalyst. The catalyst runs the seeker and receives assertions, such as selected answers, in response to interrogatives, such as questions. When all assertions are provided to all interrogatives, the seeker generates a yield. However, the yield also can be generated dynamically as the seeker operates.

  • Patent number: 6355318
Abstract: A casing member for forming a connection between tubular sections. The member has heat shrinkable end portions, for connecting on respective adjacent end surfaces of the tubular sections adjacent the joint, and a middle portion for spanning between the end surfaces of the tubular sections. The end portions are formed integrally with at least a portion of the middle portion and have a zone that has a relatively small wall thickness while the middle portion having a relatively large wall thickness. This member may be made by heat shrinking a sleeve on an inner core on a mandrel or by uniting opposed ends of a heat shrink sheet having one or more auxiliary layers bonded to it. The properties of the core or auxiliary layer or layers may be tailored to provide desired properties or capabilities.

  • Patent number: 5786053
Abstract: An article, for example a pipe, has a first covering such as a polymer layer, and a second covering, such as a repair patch or a repair deposit of melt-on adhesive or a wrap or a sleeve protecting a welded joint between two lengths of such pipe. The second covering may have a functional coating on an underside which is applied on and is at least partially superimposed over the first covering. A cured deposit of thermoset resin is applied at least over the edges of the second covering, for example in the form of a fibrous tape impregnated with a curable resin composition, and bonds to the first and second coverings. The resin deposit provides the second covering with increased stability against displacement laterally of said first covering, for example as a result of soil stress.

  • Patent number: 5134000
Abstract: A heat shrinkable wrap-around sleeve comprises a heat shrinkable sheet with a heat stable strip welded on one end. The free end of the heat stable strip is overlapped on the outer side of the opposite end of the sheet and welded thereto by heating applied directly on the outer side. This allows a good quality welded connection to be formed without requiring the use of hold-down adhesives. The sleeve can be manufactured using induction welding or more preferably by heated wedged welding.
