  • Patent number: 4893826
Abstract: A mobile support device for a handicapped person and rollable on a reaction surface, the mobile support device comprising first and second substantially parallel planar frame sections oriented in spaced relationship to define a region therebetween, the lower portion of said frame sections defining a base, a back support portion spanning the region and coupled with the first and second frame portions, a seat spanning the region with at least a front portion thereof pivotable relative to the first and second frame portions and a wheel assembly mounted on the base so as to engage the reaction surface.

  • Patent number: 4233780
Abstract: The invention disclosed relates to air-tight seals between a door and a door frame and is particularly applicable to use with vacuum chambers where both the door and door frame are warped to varying degrees due to the stresses caused by high internal pressures. The invention contemplates a gasket assembly which comprises a retaining means including a groove which extends about and adjacent the perimeter of the door frame and a bead of a resilient solid elastomeric material cured in situ. The bead extends somewhat proud of the groove and while in its plastic state the door may be closed against the door frame and the elastomeric material cured in situ, whereby the elastomeric material conforms exactly to the shape of the door to provide an air-tight seal. A sealing composition comprising about 70-80%/w of a resilient solid elastomeric material and about 30-20%/w of an inert thickening agent is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4139931
Abstract: The specification discloses a fire hydrant and valve assembly therefor including a flexible, resilient compressible, fluid-impervious sealing flange or lip formed on and extending outwardly of the main valve sealing member for supplemental sealing of both the water passageway through the main valve seat ring and between the valve seat ring and inner surface of the hydrant conduit. Also disclosed is a method for assembling a valve assembly in a fire hydrant to prevent damage to the valve assembly by using the sealing flange or lip on the sealing member to locate and guide the valve assembly through the valve seat area of the conduit as well as to lubricate that area during insertion of the valve to ease assembly and facilitate later disassembly.
