  • Patent number: 7886233
Abstract: A text input method is described for an electronic apparatus having a user interface with text input means and a display screen. Word completion functionality is provided for predicting word candidates for partial word inputs made by the user with the text input means. The method involves receiving a partial word input from the user and deriving a set of word completion candidates using the word completion functionality. Each of the word completion candidates in the set has a prefix and a suffix, wherein the prefix corresponds to the partial word input. The method also involves presenting the suffices for at least a sub set of the word completion candidates in a predetermined area on the display screen, wherein each of the presented suffices is made selectable for the user.

  • Publication number: 20060266187
Abstract: Anvil roll cover structure for a veneer clipper comprising, plural, complementary, molded roll cover sections having curved chevron-cut shapes assembleable in pairs to form a unified, singular, circumsurrounding anvil roll cover segment. The sections which unite to form cover segments are supported internally by curtain-screen, wire-mesh, flex armature components which help to stabilize segment section shapes which are formed by chevron-cutting of initially whole, molded, undivided cover segments. Joinery-accommodating nut, bolt and passage structures operatively associated with pairs of segment sections accommodate assembly of such pairs into full body-of-revolution segments. End-to-end disposed, twin-section segments collaborate to form an overall anvil roll cover.

  • Publication number: 20050115640
Abstract: Wear-replaceable resilient cover structure, or jacket, for the known-diameter cylindrical surface of an elongate, known-length anvil roll in a veneer clipper. The cover structure includes an elongate, internal, tubular, cylindrical armature having inside and outside diameters which are each larger than an anvil roll's surface's known diameter, and an elongate, tubular, cylindrical resiliency sleeve which embeddedly receives, and is stabilized by, the armature. The sleeve possesses inside and outside diameters which are, respectively, less than and greater than those of the armature, and the sleeve's inside diameter is sized to promote non-bonding, resistive slide-on/slide-off fitment of the armature-stabilized sleeve relative to a clipper anvil roll's cylindrical surface.
