  • Patent number: 11975539
Abstract: A marking system includes a valve body including an orifice plate including multiple orifices and multiple micro-valves. Each micro-valve includes an actuating beam movable from a closed position in which a corresponding one of the orifices is sealed by a portion of the actuating beam such that the micro-valve is closed, into a peak position in response to application of a control signal. A controller is configured to generate a control signal for each of the actuating beams, each control signal including a drive pulse having a predetermined voltage such that the actuating beam moves from the closed position into the peak position in which the corresponding orifice is open and returns to the closed position in a characteristic period, wherein the drive pulse has a duration that substantially corresponds to the characteristic period such that the actuating beam is in the closed position after the drive pulse is complete.

  • Publication number: 20240145071
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus may be provided for providing a medical product assistant to identify a medical product. A first message may be received from a user interface. The first message may indicate a request from a user to identify an object. A portion of the object may be determined using the device's camera. A confidence level associated with a medical product may be generated. The generated confidence level may indicate confidence that the object is the medical product. The generated confidence level may be based on the portion of the object and a product detection model. The product detection model may have been trained using synthetic product detection data that may comprise at least a computer-generated image of the medical product. The object may be identified as the medical product when the confidence level satisfies a threshold.

  • Publication number: 20200115082
Abstract: A bagging machine may include a supply handling assembly, a bag loading assembly and a controlled, which may control certain operations of the bagging machine. The bag loading assembly may include a bag opening assembly that reciprocates back and forth and which supports movable film grippers. The bagging machine may be provided with one or more sensors operatively positioned to detect whether a film is present between the grippers, such as during an opening sequence, and the controller may be configured to modify the operation (e.g., interrupt or re-start an opening sequence, generate an alert signal, etc.) of the bagging machine based on the data received from the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20190160092
Abstract: A hemostatic tissue sealant sponge and a spray for acute wounds are disclosed. The sponge comprises hydrophobically modified polymers that anchor themselves within the membrane of cells in the vicinity of the wound. The seal is strong enough to substantially prevent the loss of blood inside the boundaries of the sponge, yet weak enough to substantially prevent damage to newly formed tissue upon recovery and subsequent removal of the sponge. In examples, the polymers inherently prevent microbial infections and are suitable for oxygen transfer required during normal wound metabolism. The spray comprises hydrophobically modified polymers that form solid gel networks with blood cells to create a physical clotting mechanism to prevent loss of blood. In an example, the spray further comprises at least one reagent that increases the mechanical integrity of the clot. In another example, the reagent prevents microbial infection of the wound.

  • Patent number: 10210479
Abstract: A method for underwriting an insurance policy includes sending an electronic query from an insurance company to a central vehicle operator rating agency. The method further includes receiving at the insurance company an electronic response to the query from the central vehicle operator rating agency. The response includes data maintained by the central vehicle operator rating agency with respect to a vehicle operator. The data reflects a vehicle operating record of the vehicle operator. The vehicle operating record is a collation of data concerning vehicle operation activities of the vehicle operator over a period of at least two years. The method further includes routing the received data to an underwriter in the insurance company. The underwriter determines whether to issue or renew or adjust an insurance policy that covers the vehicle operator or an employer of the vehicle operator.

  • Publication number: 20150246578
Abstract: Disclosed are various exemplary embodiments of a multi-piece rim assembly for mounting a tire. The rim assembly may include a rim base having a first end and a second end, a flange detachably mountable to the first end of the rim base, and a flange assembly detachably mountable to the second end of the rim base. The flange and the rim base may cooperatively define a first bead seat for receiving a first bead of the tire, and the flange assembly may define a second bead seat for receiving a second bead of the tire. The flange assembly may be formed of a unitary construction that includes a bead seat section having an outer surface for contacting a bottom edge of the second bead of the tire and a flange section extending substantially radially outwardly from the bead seat section to contact a side wall of the second bead of the tire. The rim assembly may also include a lock ring configured to secure the flange assembly to the rim base.

  • Patent number: 8077004
Abstract: An electrical device is produced by winding wires around a core. The device may be used as a transformer. Wires are inserted into, through and around a first hole and a first side of a core a desired number of times. Thereafter, the wires are extended along either a top or a bottom of the core and then passed through and around a second hole of the core. After the wires are wound around the second hole of the core and a second side of the core, the production of the device is complete.
