  • Patent number: 11997554
Abstract: System and methods for smart cell selection and reselection are described. A mobile device may attempt to camp on a cell in a tracking area that has advertised a particular frequency band. If the mobile device is unable to recognize an information element identifying a different subset of the advertised frequency band than that supported by the mobile device, the mobile device will store a record of the tracking area and the advertised frequency band and compare future cell information broadcasts to the entry, avoiding attempts to operate within cells in the same tracking area advertising the same frequency. In this way the mobile device conserves resources by avoiding actions in incompatible cells and avoids storing information about many cells by only storing the tracking area information.

  • Publication number: 20240155556
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can be a mobile terminating (MT) device that may receive data from another UE or other network element via a telecommunication network. When a small data payload is available for an MT UE, a base station of the telecommunication network can send a paging message to the UE that includes a Mobile Terminating Small Data Transmission (MT-SDT) paging cause. Based on the MT-SDT paging cause in the paging message, the UE can use Small Data Transmission (SDT) procedures to respond to the paging message. The SDT procedures can allow the UE to obtain the small data payload while the UE remains in a Radio Resource Control (RRC) Inactive state.

  • Patent number: 11902961
Abstract: Various systems, methods, and devices relate to determining a delay associated with a device; calculating a guard time based at least in part on the delay; and scheduling a wireless resource to include a downlink interval, an uplink interval, and the guard time between the downlink interval and the uplink interval. By calculating the guard time based at least in part on the delay associated with the device, spectrum efficiency can be enhanced, and latency can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 11902862
Abstract: A service type symbol may be presented on a display of a communication device to indicate a type of service supported or unsupported on the communication device over a network to which the communication device is presently connected. The communication device may determine a value of a parameter, may determine, based at least in part on the value of the parameter, a service type symbol from a set of multiple different service type symbols to present on a display of the communication device, and may present the symbol on the display. Service type symbols might include, among others, a video symbol corresponding to a video streaming service, a voice symbol corresponding to a voice calling service, a basic data symbol corresponding to a basic data service.

  • Patent number: 11876618
Abstract: A base station can select orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) numerologies that define subcarrier spacing values based on attributes associated with one or more services that a user equipment (UE) is using. The base station can use the selected OFDM numerologies for transmission associated with the services. When the UE is using multiple services simultaneously, the base station can select the same or different OFDM numerologies for the multiple services.

  • Patent number: 11672312
Abstract: One or more ring re-sizing attachments are appended to the internal circumference of a ring band so that a ring band large enough to pass over a knuckle remains comfortably fit around the finger below the knuckle. Each attachment includes a base defining an internal volume surrounded by a raised wall. A button slidingly engaged in the base internal volume defines an inner volume, and one or more springs are held in the button inner volume. As the one or more springs are compressed, the button moves into the internal volume of the base, increasing the space within the band to move the band beyond a knuckle. Once the band is beyond the knuckle, the spring(s) urge the button upwardly, causing the lips of the button to contact ledges or lips projecting from the sidewall of the base, to tighten the fit of the ring band around the finger.

  • Patent number: 11540260
Abstract: Solutions for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) allocation, for example on a 5G network, include receiving, at a base station (BS) on a network, a session request message from a user equipment (UE) requesting a network session; based on at least receiving the session request message, determining a channel quality of a channel between the UE and the BS; based on at least the channel quality, selecting a first PUCCH format; and transmitting a message, from the BS, to the UE, instructing the UE to configure the PUCCH according to the first selected PUCCH format. Some examples further include: monitoring for a format change trigger; based on at least detecting the format change trigger, selecting a second PUCCH format different than the first PUCCH format; and transmitting a message, from the BS, to the UE, instructing the UE to configure the PUCCH according to the second selected PUCCH format.

  • Publication number: 20220394717
Abstract: An electronic device configured to operate in two frequency bands having significantly different coverage areas receives coordinates associated with a smaller coverage area over a frequency band having a larger coverage area. The coordinates allow the electronic device to only power up the associated radio and search for a base station of the smaller coverage area when the electronic device is in the area described by the coordinates. This allows the electronic device to achieve significant power savings compared to even infrequent random polling to determine when a base station of the smaller coverage area radio system is available.

  • Publication number: 20220046505
Abstract: An access network can allocate a bearer for a network service associated with a quality-of-service (QoS) value (QV) and a retention-priority value (RPV), and determine a bearer ID for the service based on the QV, the RPV, and a supplemental priority value (SPV) different from the QV and from the RPV. Upon handover of a terminal, session(s) carried by a bearer allocated by the terminal can be terminated. That bearer can be selected using IDs of the bearers and a comparison function that, given two bearer IDs, determines which respective bearer should be terminated before the other. Upon handover of a terminal to an access network supporting fewer bearers per terminal than the terminal has allocated, a network node can select a bearer based on respective QVs and RPVs of a set of allocated bearers. The network node can deallocate the selected bearer.

  • Patent number: 11109293
Abstract: A first access node of a first wireless access network receives, via a first entry node of the first network, a service-request message from a terminal registered with the first network. The first access node requests first network-capacity information associated with the first wireless access network from the first entry node, and second network-capacity information associated with a second wireless access network from a second access node of the second network. The first access node selects a target access network based on the service-request message and the first and second network-capacity information. The first access node, in response to a selection of the first wireless access network, sends a service-reply message to the first entry node. The first access node, in response to a selection of the second wireless access network, triggers a handover of the terminal to the second wireless access network.
