  • Patent number: 11946848
Abstract: For analyzing a sample containing particles of at least two categories, such as a sample containing blood cells, a particle counter subject to a detection limit is coupled with an analyzer capable of discerning particle number ratios, such as a visual analyzer, and a processor. A first category of particles can be present beyond detection range limits while a second category of particles is present within respective detection range limits. The concentration of the second category of particles is determined by the particle counter. A ratio of counts of the first category to the second category is determined on the analyzer. The concentration of particles in the first category is calculated on the processor based on the ratio and the count or concentration of particles in the second category.

  • Patent number: 10059624
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system for repairing a damage site on a surface of an optical material. The system may have an Infrared (IR) laser which generates a laser beam having a predetermined wavelength, with a predetermined beam power, and such that the laser beam is focused to a predetermined full width (“F/W”) 1/e2 diameter spot on the damage site. The IR laser may be controlled to maintain the focused IR laser beam on the damage site for a predetermined exposure period corresponding to a predetermined acceptable level of downstream intensification. The laser beam may heat the damage site to a predetermined peak temperature which causes melting and reflowing of material at the damage site to create a mitigated site.

  • Publication number: 20120084867
Abstract: Methods and systems to assess information security based on based on a combination of user-responses to computer-selected queries and results of a testing/diagnostic application. Users may be interviewed based on areas of expertise. Information security assessment may be performed with respect to domains of an enterprise, the results of which may be rolled-up to assess information security across the enterprise. A system may include application-specific questions and vulnerabilities, industry specific questions and vulnerabilities, a repository of expert knowledge, and/or working aids. A system may include an inference engine, which may include a logic-based inference engine, a knowledge-based inference engine, and/or an artificial intelligence inference engine. A system may include an application-specific tool to configure the system to assess security of information handled by a third party application program.

  • Patent number: 5659743
Abstract: A pattern based space management apparatus and method for a computer system having at least two levels of hierarchical storage is comprised of computer code for creating and maintaining a data base containing size information and historical information about the use of data sets residing on the computer system. Code is provided for calculating a next reference date for certain of the data sets and a confidence level for each of the next reference dates from information in the data base. An input device may be used to define an amount of the highest level storage space which is to remain available. Code is provided for identifying which data sets should be migrated between the storage levels of the computer system based on the next reference dates, the confidence levels, the sizes of the data sets, and the amount of highest level storage space which is to remain available. Code is also provided to effect the migration of the data sets identified for migration.
