  • Patent number: 4457717
Abstract: An apparatus to facilitate the learning and practice of realistic free-hand drawing and painting. Instead of paper or canvas, a panel of specifically configured, relatively thin, film-like, transparent material is used. Such transparent panel is temporarily secured to heavier, rigid and also transparent panel while sketching, drawing or painting is being done on its face, using specifically configured and modified artists materials. Specifically configured supporting apparatus adjustably supports, positions and maintains such panels of clear materials at the desired proximity in front of the artist, while he sketches, draws or paints on such transparent panel whatever he sees when looking directly through it. Additional assisting means are provided for his optional use.

  • Patent number: 4350369
Abstract: An apparatus to position a 3-point restraining device to and out of immediate proximity to a person seated in a car. Its operation may be manual, mechanically assisted, automatic or fully passive. A length of webbing or cable has one end anchored to vehicle floor back and inboard of its seated user, the other end anchored back and inboard of his head to a "Central-Post". The door panel or body side closest to the seat supports a diagonally disposed track channel over which slides a belt carrier supporting the mid-portion of the device and dividing it into lap-belt and shoulder-belt portions. When the vehicle door is opened, it causes the belt carrier to slide forward and upward, removing the device away from its user; when it is closed, the device is repositioned and locked over its user's lap and chest. The apparatus is usable with most seats of most motor vehicles and accepts various auxiliary protective devices.

  • Patent number: 4290620
Abstract: The disclosure provides for torsionally resilient interconnection structure of two existing bicycles into side-by-side or parallel cooperative relationship, by employing plurality of torsionally resilient connecting members which are bent to form a longer mid-portion and two shorter end portions, with their longer mid-portions positioned substantially horizontally and transversely between the main frame tubes of the two bicycles, and their shorter end portions aligning longitudinally with the correspondingly positioned frame tubes of the two bicycles and operatively attached to them at two spaced-apart points, including novel steering linkage and front wheels tie-rod system allowing the two coupled bicycles to be operated as one four-wheel vehicle and enabling it to carry additional people and cargo.

  • Patent number: 4229018
Abstract: An apparatus of torsionally resilient sidecar structure and resilient structure for connecting it to any type of a two-wheel land vehicle, be it pedal-powered, motor-driven or any combination of propulsion; the sidecar operatively attachable to the two-wheel vehicle by a plurality of torsionally resilient connecting members, each of them bent to form a longer mid-portion and two shorter end-portions, the longer mid-portions positioned substantially horizontally and transversely between the frame of the two-wheel vehicle and the sidecar, thus determining the overall width of the combined vehicle, and their shorter end-portions operatively attached on one side to the structural members of the two-wheel vehicle and on the other side to the structural members of the sidecar assembly.

  • Patent number: 4227589
Abstract: A combined engine and pedal-powered multipassenger, multipurpose four-wheel vehicle constructed by operatively connecting any two compatibly configured, commercially available bicycles and powering at least one of its four wheels with auxiliary propulsion apparatus for optional power assist of such vehicle. The two bicycles are operatively interconnected into side by side, spaced apart and aligned relationship by plural, specifically configured members, each bent to form a longer mid-portion and two shorter end-portions; each mid-portion positioned substantially horizontally and transversely between the two bicycles and each shorter end-portion operatively attached to correspondingly positioned frame members of the two bicycles at two spaced-apart points. A steering assembly based on modified trapezium linkage principle of king-pin with track-arm and track-rod connection of the front wheels of the two bicycles to provided efficient steering from either bicycle.

  • Patent number: 4217970
Abstract: A four-wheeled motor vehicle constructed by operatively coupling two exclusively configured left and right longitudinal side structures by plural, transversely positioned connecting and bracing members. Each side structure operatively supported by its own front wheel adapted for steering and rear wheel adapted for propelling the vehicle. Each of the connecting members comprising a longer mid-portion positioned transversely between the two longitudinal sides, and two shorter end-portions which are secured to correspondingly positioned structurally rigid sections of them. Steering system operatively couples the two front wheels of the two sides for steering thus coupled vehicle. A propulsion plant propels at least one of the wheels. All operating controls are configured for safe and legal operation of the vehicle by its driver. The longer mid-portions of said connecting members support body panels positioned intermediate the two side structures, vehicle floor and seats.

  • Patent number: 4063778
Abstract: An individual, personalized body restraining device for seat occupant of a seat of any fast moving conveyance, the device including in its basic configuration the protective elements of the seat belt, two shoulder straps, chest shield, head and chin guard, with a head rest and stomach plastron optional; the assembly including easily adjustable, quickly attachable and detachable means of fastening it to secure members of said conveyance; two of them at the usual locations used by the existing safety belts, and the third positioned back of and preferably substantially inboard of its user's head, together with means of adjustments to allow positioning of this unique device into any desired relationship to its user's body when he is seated in said seat.

  • Patent number: 3997209
Abstract: Collision deflecting system for fast moving vehicles comprising extendible and retractable bumper-like assembly of rigid, elongated members pivotally operatively and adjustably connected together and to the rigid structure of said vehicle, said system provided at its outward apex with novel directional deflection triggering sensor system which commits even the apparent "head-on" collision into an oblique impact, and on its periphery provided with "roller" or "skid" type impact deflecting means to continue and expand the deflection into greater obliqueness, the system adapted to front and back installation, and operable and controllable by any conveniently available means, of power actuation and remote control and further providing added collision protection in oblique and "broad-side" collisions to the vehicle by installation of the same type and properly modified roller and skid type means at all desirable locations of the reinforced vehicle exterior surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3968994
Abstract: An individual, auxiliary body restraining device for use in combination with any existing three-point lap belt-shoulder belt system which is available for seat occupant's use in any fast-moving transportation vehicle, the device easily attached, adjusted and removed to and from the upper section of any existing restraning system crossing his chest. The device consists of a thin but substantially rigid panel-like chest-shield element contoured to fit its user's chest dimensions, to absorb and distribute the impact force of the restraining system over greater area of his thorax, thus increasing his tolerance to the shock of the impact, while its upper transverse portion is configured into a unique half-collar to fit under his chin and partially around his neck to limit the unwanted movement of the occupant's head and to protect his neck and face from direct, violent and harmful contact with the naked restraining means during any violent deceleration of the vehicle.
