  • Patent number: 4882856
Abstract: An insert with a wedge shaped cushion portion of greater resiliency than the remainder of the insert which is designed and arranged to be inserted through the foot opening of a shoe into an upwardly opening cavity in the posterior portion of the shoe. The cushion wedge portion is positioned to control the range of rotation of the heel of a wearer upon heel-strike and is provided in different resiliencies so that the insert may be used to properly address the impact resulting from heel-strike in different weights of wearers.

  • Patent number: 4202327
Abstract: This application discloses a dynamic orthosis device utilizing elastic forces to treat scoliosis or other curvatures of the spine. First and second shell segments are provided with a connecting arrangement for adjustably aligning them so as to encompass the torso. At least one pressure pad is pivotably mounted to one of the shell segments, and an elastic strap is adjustably secured to one of the shell segments so as to exert a predetermined force on the pressure pad. The elastic strap, pressure pad and shell segments cooperate to apply adjustable dynamic forces to correct abnormal curvatures of the spine.

  • Patent number: 4139087
Abstract: A shiftable conveyor system for use in mining operations includes a conveyor having a conveyor belt and a longitudinal and a lateral axis. A vehicle for shifting the conveyor system in a lateral direction includes an arm for engaging the conveyor and for applying lateral shifting forces to the conveyor. The conveyor system includes a series of skids spaced along the longitudinal axis of the conveyor and aligned parallel with the lateral axis of the conveyor. A pair of side rails are positioned on opposing ends of the series of spaced apart skids. The side rails are pivotally connected to the skids to maintain a predetermined spacing therebetween. The side rails also receive the lateral forces from the arm of the vehicle and translate the shifting forces exerted by the arm into lateral movement of the skids. A plurality of rigid conveyor modules are positioned between the side rails and above the skids to support the conveyor belt.
