    Abstract: A surgical instrument comprises a body, shaft, and end effector. The shaft couples the end effector and body together. The end effector comprises an anvil and lower jaw configured to receive a surgical staple cartridge. The anvil is configured to pivot toward and away from the staple cartridge and lower jaw. The shaft assembly comprises a knife member configured to longitudinally translate to thereby substantially simultaneously cut clamped tissue and staple the severed tissue. The end effector may comprise lockout features configure to prevent longitudinal translation of the knife member. The end effector or staple cartridge may comprise lockout bypass features configured to prevent lockout of the knife member. These lockout bypass features may operate to permit longitudinal translation of the knife member once or multiple times. The end effector may comprise features configured to ensure proper alignment of the anvil relative to the staple cartridge.

    Abstract: A hydraulic power unit combining a number of cylinders using ball bearings to displace hydraulic fluid sequentially with controlled flow to a number of hydraulic actuators. A power unit could combine a minimum of two cylinders through ten or twelve cylinders in a practical hydraulic power unit. The inherent bi-directional nature of this combination of fluid displacing ball bearings, cylinder and porting arrangement offers a unique opportunity to change fluid flow by reversing input drive. The torsional reaction component of the opposed reciprocator drives is utilized to rotate the core cylinder assembly to realign outlet and return fluid flow. This realignment can be used to reverse the fluid circuits or redirect the fluid to other work.

    Abstract: A nozzle for injecting adhesive materials into cracks in concrete, mortared joints in brick or stone walls, in timber, or in similar materials, the nozzle having a body with a center channel for conducting the resin from a suitable pump into the cracked surface. The nozzle may be surface mounted or mounted in a drilled hole, and has a proximal end adapted for connection to a conventional coupling and a distal end surrounded by spaced lugs which facilitate insertion of the distal end into a hole and aid in retaining the nozzle therein. The spacing between the lugs and a plurality of grooves in the distal end communicating with the center channel minimize back pressure when surface mounted and resist back pressure when mounted in a hole, and provide an even diffusion of the resin into the void. A collar is normally provided near the distal end for partially or completely sealing the installation and for retaining an adhesive gel or putty cone which further seals the installation.

    Abstract: A reinforced plastic tank and method for producing the same, in which a steel plate base is provided for minimizing the bottom deflection of the tank under hydrostatic pressure when buried under ground. The base has a plate member with an annular flange extending outwardly from the top surface thereof. A plastic cup is disposed within the area surrounded by the flange, and an epoxy adhesive is injected between the cup and the steel plate and flange to adhere the cup to the steel. The side wall of the cup extends past the edge of the flange. The base assembly is then mounted on a mandrel and the fiberglass side wall is formed over the steel flange and the exposed side wall of the cup, and extends from the steel base to the desired height of the tank.
