Patent number: 9126078Abstract: In an elliptical step exercise apparatus a dynamic link mechanism can be used to vary the stride length of the machine. A control system can also be used to vary stride length as a function of various exercise and operating parameters such as speed and direction as well as varying stride length as a part of a preprogrammed exercise routine such as a hill or interval training program. In addition the control system can use measurements of stride length to optimize operation of the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2012Date of Patent: September 8, 2015Assignee: BRUNSWICK CORPORATIONInventors: Timothy T. Patent number: 8109113Abstract: An apparatus for making and dispensing frozen aerated products includes a rotating horizontal freeze plate with an upper surface for receiving a chilled aerated mix. The chilled aerated mix includes, in one embodiment, ice cream base that has been sufficiently aerated, and flavor. The apparatus further includes a scraper for scraping frozen aerated mix off of the rotating freeze plate. The scraper includes a body that forms an elongated semi-cylindrical channel. The apparatus also includes a plow for pushing the scraped, frozen and aerated mix through the channel towards a cup held by a cup lifter disposed at an end of the channel. The action of the plow pushes the scraped frozen aerated mix through the channel and into the cup resulting in a generally round scoop of scraped frozen aerated mix in the cup that resembles a serving scoop experienced at a traditional ice cream shop.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2009Date of Patent: February 7, 2012Assignee: Fluid Management Operations, LLCInventors: Gary L. Patent number: 7435202Abstract: In an elliptical step exercise apparatus distance traveled can be approximated by determining the portion of the ellipse traversed by a foot pedal where the user applies force to the pedal. This portion can be considered equivalent to the amount of foot travel on a treadmill and modified as a function of speed to simulate the gait of a user at various speeds so as to provide an approximation of the distance traveled by a user as if he were running on a treadmill. This process can be further modified for use with an elliptical exercise apparatus where the stride length can be changed such that the simulated distance will be increased with increased stride length.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2004Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: Brunswick CorporationInventors: Juliette C. Patent number: 6045312Abstract: In a fastener having a head and a shank having a generally cylindrical portion with a proximal end adjoining the head and with a distal end, the shank has a primary thread formation and a secondary thread formation. The primary thread formation has a generally uniform radial dimension along the generally cylindrical portion. In one embodiment, the secondary thread formation has a radial dimension tapering outwardly so as to increase continuously from a region where the secondary thread formation originates near the distal end to a region where the secondary thread formation has a maximum radial dimension, which is equal approximately to the generally uniform radial dimension, the latter region being closer to the distal end than to the proximal end. If the secondary thread formation is interrupted, tapping torque is lower, as compared to tapping torque if the secondary thread formation is continuous.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1999Date of Patent: April 4, 2000Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: John J.
