  • Patent number: 6311454
Abstract: A door having a plurality of channel-shaped frame members encircling a core and being coupled to one another by interfitting dimples and projections at the confronting ends of adjacent frame members. On opposite sides of the core are panels having lips which are accommodated in grooves formed in the frame members. The components of the door may be assembled without the need for any tools and such components may be maintained in assembled condition without the use of separate fastening devices such as bolts, nails, screws, and the like, or any fixtures or measuring devices.

  • Patent number: 4631866
Abstract: An improved door jamb construction adapted to be used with left or right-handed door installations and which further accommodates a broad range of types and configurations of security deadbolt devices. The door jamb construction according to this invention further features excellent thermal insulation properties since it is filled with a foam insulating material. The flexibility advantages according to this invention are achieved by providing a lock jamb structure having several removable cover plates which can be installed in various positions. A deadbolt sliding bolt hole cover plate is provided having several holes with removable center sections and which can be inverted, thereby maximizing the number of deadbolt sliding bolt locations which can be accommodated.

  • Patent number: 4518026
Abstract: An energy efficient garage door construction comprising a plurality of interconnected door sections. Each of the sections includes a pair of symmetrical metal panels forming the opposed sides and long edges of the section, and an expanded polystyrene core flanked by a pair of wooden stiles with the metal panels adhesively bonded to the core and stiles. The metal panels form oppositely facing recesses along one side edge and tongues along the other side edge so that adjacent panels interfit to create a baffle effect. The wooden stiles give the door sections extra strength and rigidity, while also serving as a reinforcement plate for mounting locks and other door hardware on the end portions of the door sections.

  • Patent number: 4489459
Abstract: A preformed door, preferably of metal, with a frame of wood in which a floating hinge connection is provided allowing the door to be adjusted relative to the frame by way of a hinge securing floating clamping plate disposed within a channel formed in the hinge stile member of the door. The clamping plate is retained by clips frictionally secured between sidewalls of the hinge stile member to prevent the plate from falling away from the channel, while a pair of stops embossed in the channel wall limit sliding movement of the clamping plate within predefined limits.

  • Patent number: 4379480
Abstract: An energy efficient garage door construction comprising a plurality of interconnected door sections. Each of the sections includes a pair of symmetrical metal panels forming the opposed sides and long edges of the section, an expanded polystyrene core to which the metal panels are adhesively bonded, and a pair of generally U-shaped end pieces nestingly received between the metal panels. The metal panels form oppositely facing recesses along one side edge and tongues along the other side edge so that adjacent panels interfit to create a baffle effect, and the panels are held together by C-shaped retaining plates which serve the secondary function of hinge reinforcement members.
