Patent number: 11966701Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes rendering a first output image comprising one or more augmented-reality (AR) objects for displays of an AR rendering device of an AR system associated with a first user. The method further includes accessing sensor signals associated with the first user. The one or more sensor signals may be captured by sensors of the AR system. The method further includes detecting a change in a context of the first user with respect to a real-world environment based on the sensor signals. The method further includes rendering a second output image comprising the AR objects for the displays of the AR rendering device. One or more of the AR objects may be adapted based on the detected change in the context of the first user.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2021Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: Meta Platforms, Inc.Inventors: Yiming Pu, Christopher E Balmes, Gabrielle Catherine Moskey, John Jacob Blakeley, Amy Lawson Bearman, Alireza Dirafzoon, Matthew Dan Feiszli, Ganesh Venkatesh, Babak Damavandi, Jiwen Ren, Chengyuan Yan, Guangqiang Dong

Publication number: 20230367611Abstract: The present disclosure provides world-controlled augments and application-controlled augments. World-controlled augments can be controlled directly by a shell in the artificial reality environment. To allow even inexperienced users to develop world-controlled augments, a world-controlled builder system is provided. Application-controlled augments may be resource intensive (e.g., using eye-tracking, social-media tie-ins, etc.), may support complicated interactions among themselves, may require or have extensive use of inputs and permissioned resources, and are controlled by their hosting application. When a running application is halted, the application closes its application-controlled augments but can choose to have the XR system run a “place-holder” world-controlled augment for as long as the application is not running. The place-holder world-controlled augment preserves the appearance of the application in the artificial reality environment but uses few system resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2022Publication date: November 16, 2023Inventors: John Jacob BLAKELEY, Michal HLAVAC, Pol PLA I CONESA, Michael ISHIGAKI, Jonathan Michael PROTO, Paul MEALY, Kevin HARPER, Jenny KAM, Jossie E. Publication number: 20230215120Abstract: The present embodiments relate to display of glints associated with real-world objects in an environment displayed on an extra reality (XR) device. The glint can include a virtual object associated with a real-world object, such as an indication of a social interaction associated with a real-world object, a content item tagged to an object, etc. The system as described herein can present glints on a display of an XR device based on a distance between the XR device and a location associated with the glint. Responsive to selection of a glint in the environment, additional information can be presented relating to the glint or another action can be taken, such as to open an application. In some instances, a glint can include a series of search results relating to a corresponding real-world object to provide additional information relating to the real-world object.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2023Publication date: July 6, 2023Applicant: Meta Platforms Technologies, LLCInventors: Jing MA, Gerrit Hendrik HOFMEESTER, John Jacob BLAKELEY, Camila Cortes DE ALMEIDA E DE VINCENZO, Gagneet Singh MAC, Jenna VELEZ, Cody CHAR, Annika RODRIGUES, Michael LUO

Publication number: 20220366659Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an artificial reality (XR) power system defining transitions between power modes of an artificial reality device according to a set of transition triggers. Additional aspects of the present disclosure are directed to predicting how much time will be required to charge a battery from its current state to a full state. Further aspects of the present disclosure are directed to dynamically displaying virtual object elements. Yet further aspects of the present disclosure are directed to dynamically altering a display of a virtual object based on a detected overlap.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2022Publication date: November 17, 2022Inventors: John Jacob BLAKELEY, Jason Michael BATTLE, Jenny KAM

Publication number: 20220261088Abstract: The disclosed technology can perform application controls in response to recognizing particular gestures. The disclosed technology can provide a launcher with virtual objects displayed in categories (e.g., history, pinned favorites, people, and a search area). The disclosed technology can perform a clone and configure input pattern, which clones a source virtual object into one or more cloned virtual objects with alternate configuration properties. The disclosed technology can perform a page or peel input pattern, which allows users to page between grids of virtual objects and facilitates peeling items out of the grid. The disclosed technology can perform a clutter and clear input pattern, which can expand multiple elements into individual views, while clearing other virtual objects.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2022Publication date: August 18, 2022Applicant: Facebook Technologies, LLCInventors: Etienne PINCHON, John Jacob BLAKELEY, Michal HLAVAC, Jasper STEVENS
