  • Patent number: 9634529
Abstract: A method of making generally symmetrical lamination stacks for electrical machines comprises producing generally symmetrical pole tips from alternating asymmetrical pieces that each have an additional layer in the asymmetrical portion. With the alternating asymmetrical pieces combined, the resulting pole tip is generally symmetrical with a larger possible pole tip width compared with currently-used interleaved stamping techniques.

  • Patent number: 6137437
Abstract: A scatterometer orbiting around the earth globe comprises a single fanbeam radar antenna which is rotated around a vertical axis, at a slow rotation rate. The antenna foot-print sweeps a circular disc. The slow conical sweep combined with the motion of the satellite on which the scatterometer is mounted results in highly overlapping successive sweeps such that an image pixel is revisited many times during an overpass. The pixels in the radial direction are resolved by range-gating the radar echo. The radar operates in the C-band. The scatterometer is intended, in particular, to determine wind speed and direction over the ocean.

  • Patent number: 5271116
Abstract: A method of providing a desired water level in a laundry machine by energising the motor of the machine intermittently to produce changes in velocity of the spin tub, agitator and a load of clothes in the spin tub.The changes in velocity are measured and from the measurements the mass of the load of clothes is determined. A desired volume of water necessary for an optimum wash of the load of clothes is then determined and this volume of water is admitted to the washing container of the laundry machine.

  • Patent number: 5208931
Abstract: A method, control device and appartaus for providing a desired water level in a laundry machine (1) by energizing the motor (10) of the machine intermittently to produce changes in velocity of the spin tub (3), agitator (4) and a load of clothes in the spin tub. The changes in velocity are measured and from the measurements the mass of the load of clothes is determined. A desired volume of water necessary for an optimum wash of the load of clothes is then determined and this volume of water is admitted (17) to the washing container (2) of the laundry machine.
