  • Publication number: 20100230453
Abstract: A roof bar (10) for a motor vehicle (1) includes an elongate load carrying member (13) selectively held in a deployed position by a latch mechanism (20). A crossbar portion (15) of the elongate load carrying member (13) is wider than it is thick and is orientated such that the width of the crossbar portion (15) is vertically arranged when the roof bar (10) is in the deployed position so as to increase the resistance to vertical bending of the crossbar portion (15).

  • Publication number: 20100230451
Abstract: A roof bar (10) for a motor vehicle (1) is disclosed in which an elongate load carrying member (313) is selectively held in a deployed position by a latch mechanism (320). The latch mechanism (320) interacts directly with the elongate load carrying member (313) and no separate stay is required to hold the elongate load carrying member (313) in the deployed position. The components (311, 315, 316) forming the roof bar (10) are all relatively thin when the roof bar (10) is in the stowed state, so as to minimize any change in vehicle height.

  • Patent number: 7637553
Abstract: A motor vehicle is disclosed having one or more seat assemblies each of which has an automatically stowable head restraint associated with it. Each head restraint is pivotally supported by a stowable rear roof panel and is biased into a stowed position in which it lies adjacent to the rear roof panel by a spring. A latch mechanism is used to hold the head restraint in a lowered position in which it depends downwardly from the roof panel for use by an occupant of the motor vehicle. The latch mechanism is automatically released by the process of stowing the rear roof panel or a front roof panel.

  • Publication number: 20080265610
Abstract: A motor vehicle is disclosed having front and rear roof panels and which can be moved from in use to stowed positions to change the style of the motor vehicle from a two box style to a convertible or pick-up style. A stowage mechanism for the rear roof panel having two interlinked four bar linkages is disclosed which allows a small linear actuator to produce the range of displacement required to stow the rear roof panel.

  • Patent number: 7354095
Abstract: A stowage mechanism 30 for a rear roof member 6 of a motor vehicle 1, 101 is also disclosed which is particularly small allowing it to be easily packaged in the motor vehicle 1, 101. The stowage mechanism 30 uses a combination of a chain 31 and a guide slot 32 to control the movement of the rear roof member 6 between raised and stowed positions which require the rear roof member 6 to be rotated, moved forwards and then lowered to reach the stowed position.

  • Patent number: 4585029
Abstract: An electro-hydraulic servo valve of two-stage type including a beam mounted for swinging movement with respect to the casing of the valve. One portion of the beam is engaged with the second-stage displaceable element of the valve and another portion of the beam carries an electrical sensor through which an electrical current is caused to pass. Magnet means are housed in the casing adjacent the other portion of the beam. As, on controlled movement of the displaceable element, the beam swings, the positional relationship of the sensor with respect to the magnetic fields of the magnet means changes, thus to so vary the electrical potential across the sensor that an electrical feedback signal is emitted by the sensor which is proportional to the displacement of said displaceable element.
