  • Patent number: 7066547
Abstract: A portable and stabilized foot rest for positioning on a supporting surface, such as a floor, or the like. The foot rest comprises a generally, rectangularly shaped housing mounting a pair of V-configured legs recessible within the housing in a storage or transporting mode, and extendible for use in a foot supporting mode. Plural releasable locking mechanisms are provided to secure the foot rest in the respective modes.

  • Patent number: 6643982
Abstract: An elongated, light weight, maintenance free, hollow structural support post or column for supporting an overhanging roof segment in spaced relationship to a porch floor, for example. The post comprises a thin walled, generally rectangular plastic member containing a circular, metal tubular member therewithin, and spaced from the inner wall of the plastic member by plural elongated, plastic inserts press fit between the metal tubular member and inner wall of the rectangular plastic member. Additionally, the invention includes a pair of uniquely designed end base plates for anchoring the post to the overhanging structure and to the porch floor, where the base plates cooperate with the metal tubular member to prevent twisting of the post when maintained in a compressive or supporting mode.

  • Patent number: 6082019
Abstract: A system for determining the length and angle of stair railings, which system is disclosed in the form of a kit of parts and a method. The system includes a pair of vertically adjustable, simulated post housings to be temporarily positioned at the top and bottom of the stairs, where a first housing includes a pivotally mounted, extendable tape measure and angle scale. When the respective post housings are vertically adjusted to position a slidable base member at the projected height for the railing, the tape measure is then extended to the other post housing. While extended, the railing length and angle ends may be readily determined, and the information therefrom in preparing the railing.

  • Patent number: 5722114
Abstract: Invention is directed to a compression spring mechanism, particularly in combination with a fencing system which incorporates a swinging gate. The mechanism, intended to automatically close a released and opened gate, comprises a cylindrical tube, mounted within the gate, a plurality of compression springs aligned end-to-end within the tube, and a spring housing secured to one end of the tube for receiving one of the compression springs. A cable, of predetermined length, passes through the housing and aligned springs and is secured to the spring end most remote from the spring housing. The other end of the cable is secured to a stationary member, such as a post about which the gate pivots. As the gate is opened, the springs are further compressed storing sufficient energy to allow closure of the gate when released.

  • Patent number: 5122218
Abstract: This invention is directed to apparatus, and to the method for crimping and sealing the end of a thin walled, inflexible plastic tubing member, such as made from vinyl, PVC and the like, where such end preferably exhibits a uniquely configured end design in the shape of an arrowhead. The apparatus includes a frame having mounted thereon a carousel for operating in an intermittent, rotational mode among plural operating stations arranged in a circular sequence. The stations are arranged sequentially to receive the tubular plastic member, heat one end thereof to a preferred temperature between about 200.degree. to 212.degree. F. for a period of about 5 to 15 secounds, apply a plastic compatible adhesive to the inner wall of the heated one end, and crimp and seal said one end by applying a compressive force to the one end to bring opposing walls thereof into sealing engagement, while maintaining such compressive force for a sufficient time to effect the sealing of the one end.
