The base attaches to a wall or vertical surface via at least one of adhesives, nylon hook and loop strips, or mounting screws. The self-mounting shelf with a light is designed to be positioned adjacent to an electrical wall outlet in order to ensure ease of access to an electrical supply for the overhead light. The shelf may be substituted with alternate designs designed to accommodate a plurality of needs.
