Patent number: 10770840Abstract: A shielded electrical connector assembly is presented herein. The shielded electrical connector assembly includes a shield terminal having an attachment portion configured to be connected to a shield conductor of a coaxial cable and a connection portion configured to be received within a mating shield terminal and a contact cage surrounding a forward segment of the connection portion and slideably attached to the shield terminal. The contact cage defines a plurality of arcuate contact arms configured to be in intimate compressive contact with a mating shield terminal inner wall which causes the contact cage to extend rearwardly when the shield terminal is inserted within the mating shield terminal. Methods of forming and interconnecting a shielded electrical connector assembly are also presented herein.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2019Date of Patent: September 8, 2020Assignee: APTIV TECHNOLOGIES LIMITEDInventors: Erika M. Garver, Crystal F. Krompegel, James M. Rainey, John Kountz, Jared Bilas

Patent number: 10361496Abstract: A cable assembly includes an elongate conductor surrounded by an outer insulator and an outer ferrule surrounding a portion of the conductor. An outer surface of the outer ferrule is deformed to produce an indentation having an indentation surface that is angled relative to the outer surface. The indentation forms a barb that at least partially penetrates the outer insulator. A method of manufacturing the cable assembly and a tool for forming the outer ferrule is also presented and described.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2018Date of Patent: July 23, 2019Assignee: DELPHI TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Jesse Weiland, Shae T. Publication number: 20070067392Abstract: A social networking service is integrated with a traditional communication service. The communication service may include an instant messaging service, an electronic mail service, a content page management service, or other communication service. The communication service provides one or more interfaces allowing a user to navigate and manage a contact network. A user may access several layers of contacts, and expand their contact list, by selecting additional contacts within additional contact lists.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2005Publication date: March 22, 2007Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Michael Torres, John Kountz, Oludare Obasanjo, Matthew Augustine, Jason Fluegel, Jacob Kim, DeEtte Day

Publication number: 20070043688Abstract: A method for annotating shared contacts within a social network with public tags, notes or other data. This allows users of a social network to gain useful information at a glance about others' contacts within that network, as well as providing a means for filtering contacts within that network by user-defined keywords. Such a system improves and simplifies the ability of a user to discover new potential friends and business contacts.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2005Publication date: February 22, 2007Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: John Kountz, Matthew Augustine, Michael Torres, Oludare Obasanjo

Patent number: 6416340Abstract: A power connector system has a male member, a female member and a contact member. A cable is attached to the male member. The female member has a U-shaped channel. The contact member is U-shaped and is received in the channel. The side walls of the channel have outer edges defining an outer opening to the channel and end edges defining an end opening to the channel. The male member has a single blade which is insertable into the contact member either though the outer opening or through the end opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2000Date of Patent: July 9, 2002Inventors: Christopher E. Schaefer, John Kountz, Joseph A Finnerty, Robert Stang

Patent number: 6244886Abstract: A force distribution seal for an electrical connection system having matable electrical connectors prevents leakage at the joint between the coupled connectors. The force distribution seal comprises a seal body with a plurality of radial bending ribs extending outward from the seal body. At least one external radial compression rail is disposed between each pair of adjacent bending ribs. At least one internal radial compression rail extends inward from the seal body. The internal radial compression rail is longitudinally disposed between a pair of adjacent bending ribs and corresponds to at least one external radial compression rail whereby force exerted upon a corresponding external radial compression rail by a radial bending rib is transferred to the internal compression rail to form a superior seal.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2000Date of Patent: June 12, 2001Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: William G Strang, Gary E. Casterline, Mark A. Scheel, John Kountz, John H. Bakker

Patent number: 6086306Abstract: A bilaterally split retainer pin which is structurally robust, having a head easily insertable into an aperture yet highly resistant to backing out through the aperture. The bilaterally split retainer pin includes a post base having a periphery and a pair of legs integrally connected thereto which are mutually separated by a bilateral slot. Each of the legs is composed of a post segment integrally connected with the post base and a head integrally connected with the respective post segment. Each head is characterized by a tapered surface and an abutment surface, wherein a barb radially projects outwardly relative to the periphery a radial length defined by an abutment surface. The tapered surface includes the barb and converges radially toward a respective tip. Each leg has a transverse cut originating at the post base and extending to the tip, wherein the transverse cut slopes from the periphery toward a midsection of the bilaterally split pin.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1998Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: John H. Bakker, William G. Flask, Vickey E. Reed, John Kountz

Patent number: 4112703Abstract: A controlled space is maintained at a desired set point temperature by adjusting the refrigerant temperature at the evaporator outlet in a refrigeration system, thereby controlling the evaporator effectiveness or capacity which is inversely proportional to the outlet temperature. When the space temperature tends to vary from the desired set point due to a changing heat load, the control system automatically changes the refrigerant flow through the evaporator to establish the evaporator outlet temperature at the control point required to maintain the controlled space at the desired temperature. More specifically, in response to a space temperature increase, the flow rate of the refrigerant increases; and in response to a drop below the set point, the refrigerant flow decreases.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1976Date of Patent: September 12, 1978Assignee: Borg-Warner CorporationInventor: Kenneth John Kountz

Patent number: 4102150Abstract: A controlled space is maintained at a desired set point temperature by adjusting the refrigerant temperature at the evaporator outlet in a refrigeration system, thereby controlling the evaporator effectiveness or capacity which is inversely proportional to the outlet temperature. When the space temperature tends to vary from the desired set point due to a changing heat load, the control system automatically changes the refrigerant flow through the evaporator to establish the evaporator outlet temperature at the control point required to maintain the controlled space at the desired temperature. More specifically, in response to a space temperature increase, the flow rate of the refrigerant increases; and in response to a drop below the set point, the refrigerant flow decreases. Such control of the flow rate is achieved by varying the displacement of a controlled displacement compressor included in the refrigeration system.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1976Date of Patent: July 25, 1978Assignee: Borg-Warner CorporationInventor: Kenneth John Kountz
