  • Patent number: 5489200
Abstract: A compress/melt waste processor includes a frame; a chamber housing having walls which define a chamber therein; a ram movably disposed in the chamber; a sensor which senses pressure applied by the ram; an actuator operatively connected to the ram to move the ram; a chamber hatch upon which the housing is mounted, the chamber housing walls, the ram and the chamber hatch defining a space therebetween; and a device for feeding contaminated plastic waste into the chamber. The apparatus also includes a device for heating the housing walls, the ram and the chamber hatch; a device for cooling the housing walls, the ram and the chamber hatch, a device for detecting temperature of the housing walls, the ram, the chamber hatch and the contaminated plastic waste in the chamber; and a control device for controlling the actuator and the heating and cooling devices.

  • Patent number: 5348236
Abstract: An impeller of an impeller assembly for a processing device has a spiral ove formed in a circumferential side face so that material entering a clearance space between the circumferential side face of the impeller and inner circumferential walls of the processing device is guided out of the clearance space when the impeller assembly is rotated. The spiral groove prevent material from lodging in the space and jamming the impeller assembly.

  • Patent number: 4303608
Abstract: A method and apparatus for replicating the submerged surfaces of ships and other marine structures. One apparatus includes a housing which is partitioned into forward and rear chambers by a membrane and a piston member, which is carried by the membrane. Upon selective flooding of the rear chamber and evacuation of the forward chamber, the piston member is moved toward the submerged surface to form an evacuated molding region therebetween. Liquid molding material is then drawn into the evacuated molding region and the molding device is retained in position until the material solidifies. An alternative molding apparatus includes a housing with peripheral suction elements for releasably securing the housing to the submerged surface so that a molding region is defined therebetween. Upon displacement of water from and subsequent evacuation of the molding region, settable molding material is introduced into the molding region.
