  • Patent number: 4811620
Abstract: A combined hand and foot control for a prime mover throttle member 10 including a hand control 12, a foot control 13, and a combining device 14 for combining the hand and foot controls. The combining device includes a plastics support housing 14a,14b and a combining member 34 slidable within the housing in first and second opposite directions. A first cable linkage 17 connects the combining member 34 with the throttle member 10 so that movement of the combining member in the first direction moves the throttle member towards a fully open position. A spring 38 act to bias the throttle member towards an idle position and hence bias the said combining member 34 in the second direction via the first cable linkage 17.

  • Patent number: 4793207
Abstract: A pedal actuator in which a pedal 10 is movable by the application of foot pressure between raised and depressed positions to actuate a device such as a vehicle differential lock 11 via an operating device 12,13,14,16. The pedal is biased towards its raised position, and a holding device 24 is provided for maintaining the pedal in its depressed position. The holding device comprises a cam follower 33 connected with the operating means for co-movement therewith and a cam 32 for co-operation with the follower. The cam includes a first cam path 34 along which the follower 33 is moved as the pedal is moved from its raised to its depressed position, a holding position 35 in which the cam follower is held by the bias 21 to hold the pedal it its depressed position, and a second cam path 36 along which the follower moves under the action of the bias as the pedal rises from its depressed position to its raised position.

  • Patent number: 4584899
Abstract: A lockable pedal arrangement having an operating pedal (14) which is movable between raised and depressed positions to perform a function such as the operation of a differential lock in a vehicle such as a tractor. The pedal is pivotally mounted on an operating member (10) and latching means (21a) associated with the pedal are engageable with fixed latching formation (21b) on movement of the pedal to its depressed position and pivoting of the pedal relative to the operating member. Detent means (17,19) at between the pedal (14) and the operating member (10) to hold the pedal in its pivoted position relative to the operating member (10) to maintain the latching means (21a) and latching formation (21b) in engagement and thus hold the operating member (10) in its depressed position.

  • Patent number: 4377300
Abstract: A ballast weight for use on agricultural or industrial machines such as tractors, the weight being provided with a cut-out which opens through one edge and which receives part of a mounting frame attached to the machine. The weight is retained in position on the mounting frame by shaping the upper portion of the cut-out adjacent the opening to form a lip which can be hooked behind an upper part of the frame and by a linearly slidable latch member which is housed in a cavity provided in that portion of the weight which defines the lower portion of the cut-out. One end of the latch member projects from the upper end of the cavity into the cut-out and is arranged to automatically engage a locating formation on the lower part of the mounting frame under the action of a spring bias when the weight is brought into its operational position.

  • Patent number: 4181181
Abstract: A three-point implement hitch employed to secure an implement forwardly of a propelling tractor. The implement hitch includes a frame on which a pair of forwardly extending lower links are mounted for lateral adjustment. An intermediate portion of each of the lower links may contact a rub block on the hitch frame. The forward ends of each of the lower links rotatably carries an apertured ball which is disposed about a hitch pin on an implement and is secured in place by a lynchpin. When the rearward ends of the lower links are adjusted towards each other and mid-portion of each of the lower links is moved adjacent its associated rub block thus stabilizing the implement and controlling side to side sway. The implement hitch frame can be readily attached to and detached from a tractor.

  • Patent number: 4126328
Abstract: An adaptor for converting a drawbar hook into a clevis bears against a portion of the hook to inhibit movement in a vertical direction. A pin is used to connect the adaptor to the drawbar. The adaptor is shaped so that it is reversible to provide different heights for the clevis.

  • Patent number: 4065009
Abstract: Quick attach front end loader for an agricultural tractor. Loader has a pair of laterally spaced longitudinal rod members at each side. Tractor has sockets and guides to receive the rod members. The loader becomes supported on the tractor merely by driving tractor forwards until the rod members are received in the sockets. The lateral spacing of the sockets gives structural rigidity while minimizing obstruction of view from tractor cab when the loader is detached.

  • Patent number: RE36470
Abstract: A cruise control system for a vehicle includes a vehicle borne radar for determining range and closing rate of the vehicle relative to a target, such as another moving vehicle, ahead of the vehicle. The range and closing rate are used to determine a new set speed for the cruise control system which may be less than but is not greater than the speed entered in the cruise control by the driver of the vehicle. The new set speed is selected to prevent the vehicle from overtaking the target, and ideally reduces the closing rate to zero at a predetermined minimum distance from the target. In determining the new set speed, the system also determines incremental movements for the vehicle throttle using a selected gain boost and designed to minimize throttle jerk. If the target moves out of the path of the vehicle or speeds up, the system adjusts accordingly and eventually allows the vehicle to resume the originally entered speed when possible.
