Publication number: 20070282539Abstract: A remote sensor and associated data processor, performs concurrent analysis of backscattered signals from a multi-beam (6-10) acoustic Doppler emitter/receiver (1) positioned against the inside wall of a conveying pipe (2) or channel. Range-gating of the return signals allows independent analysis of discrete volumes of backscattered signal data corresponding to the distribution, concentration and travel velocity of small individual volumes or bins of water and suspended solids (4). Velocity is derived from the measured Doppler frequency shift for each bin. Relative solids concentration is estimated as a function of the measured intensity of the backscattered signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2004Publication date: December 6, 2007Inventors: Michael Metcalf, John Land

Patent number: 6682528Abstract: A endoscopic bipolar forceps for clamping and sealing tissue includes first and second jaw members pivotally attached in opposing relation relative to one another which are movable from a first open position wherein the jaw members are disposed in spaced relation relative to one another to a second clamping position wherein the jaw members cooperate to grasp tissue therebetween. A drive rod assembly connects each of the jaw members to a source of electrical energy such that the jaw members are capable of conducting bipolar energy through the tissue held therebetween. A handle attached to the drive rod assembly imparts movement of the first and second jaw members from the first and second positions. At least one stop member is attached to the jaw members for controlling the distance between the jaw members. The forceps may also include a yoke member for insulating the jaw members from one another to prevent short circuiting of the forceps.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2002Date of Patent: January 27, 2004Assignee: Sherwood Services AGInventors: Randel Alven Frazier, Michael John Lands, Wade Lukianow
