Publication number: 20110168077Abstract: A seat assembly includes a seat and a pedestal connected to the seat. A height adjustment mechanism is positioned between the seat and the pedestal for selectively changing height of the seat relative to the pedestal. A footrest is mounted on the pedestal for sliding vertical movement thereon and for pivotal movement between a stored position and a foot-supporting use position. A floor slide is adapted to be connected to a support surface and configured to slidably and pivotally receive the pedestal so as to enable selective fore and aft movement and swivel movement of the seat relative to the floor slide.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 10, 2011Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: H.O. Bostrom Company, Inc.Inventors: John M. Bostrom, Wayne R. Block, Travis D. Knutson

Patent number: 7506932Abstract: A jockey seat assembly is adapted to be used on a motorized vehicle and includes a saddle seat having a substantially inverted U-shaped configuration. A height adjusting mechanism is provided for the seat and has an upper frame mounted beneath the saddle seat, a lower frame adapted to be secured to a bottom surface of the vehicle and a collapsible lever assembly interconnected between the upper and lower frames. A biasing arrangement is secured between outermost ends of the lever assembly in the upper frame and the lower frame for urging the upper frame and the seat away from the lower frame. A pair of adjustment plates are fixed externally to the lever assembly and provided with a series of slots defining a number of vertical height adjusting positions. An actuator extends forwardly of the seat and the upper frame and is pivotally connected to the upper frame.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2007Date of Patent: March 24, 2009Assignee: H.O. Patent number: 7168671Abstract: A low profile seat suspension includes a bottom frame adapted to be mounted on a vehicle, and a top frame located above the bottom frame for supporting a seat cushion and seat back thereon. A substantially fully collapsible scissors linkage is interconnected between the bottom frame and the top frame enabling the bottom frame and the top frame to move relative to each other substantially in parallel. A biasing arrangement is disposed between the top frame and the bottom frame and has a preload force urging the top frame away from the bottom frame. A first adjustment mechanism is located in the top frame and selectively enables fore and aft adjustment of the top frame relative to the bottom frame.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2004Date of Patent: January 30, 2007Assignee: H.O. Bostrom Company, Inc.Inventors: John M. Bostrom, Wayne R. Block, James R. Brzenk, Matthew C. Horn

Patent number: 5601333Abstract: A seat retention system comprises a framework including a rigid, substantially U-shaped member having a pair of parallel, spaced apart legs and a bight section therebetween. The framework also includes a plurality of spring elements extending between the legs. A cushion assembly includes a cushion having an upstanding sidewall, a liner disposed on one side of the sidewall, a covering material secured to the liner, and a mounting strip disposed on the other side of the sidewall. The mounting strip is secured to the sidewall and the liner. A plurality of retaining strips has a first portion slidably mounted on the mounting strip and secured thereto, and a second portion engageable in a snap fit with the U-shaped member. Certain of the retaining clips are mounted in one orientation on the legs of the U-shaped member and between the spring elements. Certain other of the retaining clips are mounted in an orientation reversed from the one orientation on the bight section of the U-shaped member.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1995Date of Patent: February 11, 1997Assignee: H. Patent number: 5314233Abstract: A seat construction having a provision for storing a tank for a self-contained breathing apparatus. The seat includes an elongated cavity adapted to receive the tank and the rear of the cavity is enclosed by a seat back that includes a rear surface and a pair of side surfaces which extends forwardly from the rear surface. A pair of brackets are positioned in horizontally spaced relation and one end of each bracket is connected to the rear surface, while the opposite end of the bracket is connected to the respective side surface. The brackets carry generally flat supporting surfaces which are disposed to support the tank. A belt extends through slots in the brackets and the free ends of the belts are fastened together to secure the tank against the supporting surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1992Date of Patent: May 24, 1994Inventors: John M. Bostrom, Kurt H. Bostrom

Patent number: 5213392Abstract: A seat construction having a back composed of a pair of side pads which are spaced apart to provide a cavity therebetween. The cavity is adapted to receive a cylinder for a self-contained breathing apparatus which is strapped on the back of a fire fighter who is seated on the seat. The rear of the cavity is enclosed by a generally U-shaped closure and a head pad connects the upper ends of the side pads and can be pivoted from a head supporting position to a release position. As the fire fighter rises from the set, the cylinder which is strapped to his back will engage the head pad, pivoting it to a release position, so that the cylinder will not catch on the head pad as the fire fighter rises from the seat.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1991Date of Patent: May 25, 1993Inventors: John M. Bostrom, Kurt H. Bostrom
