  • Patent number: 7222937
Abstract: A drop emitting device including a first linear array of columnar arrays of first nozzle pairs and a second linear array of columnar arrays of second nozzle pairs, wherein the first linear array and the second linear array extend along an X-axis, and wherein the second linear array is adjacent the first linear array such that each first nozzle pair has an associated second nozzle pair displaced therefrom along a Y-axis that is orthogonal to the X-axis. The columnar arrays of first nozzle pairs and the columnar arrays of second nozzle pairs extend obliquely to the X-axis.

  • Patent number: 6592216
Abstract: Acoustic filters for use in an ink jet print head are disclosed. The ink jet print head defines a plurality of operating plates held together in a superimposed relationship forming an ink jet print head defining a plurality of ink manifolds, ink inlets, ink drop-forming orifices and a plurality of acoustic filters. The acoustic filters are a plurality of compliant areas connected by an acoustic filter constriction aperture and a plurality of separate compliant areas all connected to ink manifolds for suppressing unwanted frequencies during print modes.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 15, 2003
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: Chad J. Slenes, Christine M. Greiser, David J. Finnie, John M. Brookfield

  • Patent number: 6004095
Abstract: In the invention, propagating broad band and tonal acoustic components of noise characteristic of interaction of a turbomachine blade wake, produced by a turbomachine blade as the blade rotates, with a turbomachine component downstream of the rotating blade, are reduced. This is accomplished by injection of fluid into the blade wake through a port in the rotor blade. The mass flow rate of the fluid injected into the blade wake is selected to reduce the momentum deficit of the wake to correspondingly increase the time-mean velocity of the wake and decrease the turbulent velocity fluctuations of the wake. With this fluid injection, reduction of both propagating broad band and tonal acoustic components of noise produced by interaction of the blade wake with a turbomachine component downstream of the rotating blade is achieved.
