Patent number: 10655904Abstract: A refrigerated merchandiser including a case defining a product display area and including a frame having a mullion. The mullion defining an opening to the product display area. A door is coupled and movable relative to the frame over the opening to provide access to the product display area. A refrigeration system is in communication with the product display area to condition the product display area. A first heater is coupled to and routed along the frame and a second heater is coupled to and routed along the frame. The second heater is separate from the first heater. A controller is operatively coupled to the first heater and the second heater and programmed to dependently control the first heater and the second heater relative to each other to remove or inhibit formation of condensation.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2014Date of Patent: May 19, 2020Assignee: Hussmann CorporationInventors: Daniel Aiken, John M. Rasch

Patent number: 10178918Abstract: A refrigerated merchandiser includes a sensor coupled to a case adjacent an air inlet. The sensor is in communication with a portion of a refrigerated airflow passing through the air inlet to sense a temperature of the airflow and to generate a signal indicative of an air return temperature. The merchandiser also includes a controller in communication with the sensor to receive the signal indicative of the air return temperature, the controller further in communication with a conductive film on a door and programmed to initiate a clearing interval to clear condensation from the door in response to the signal indicative of the air return temperature reaching a first predetermined temperature threshold.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2013Date of Patent: January 15, 2019Assignee: Hussmann CorporationInventor: John M. Publication number: 20140265756Abstract: A refrigerated merchandiser including a case defining a product display area and a door coupled to the case to provide access to the product display area. The door includes a glass panel assembly including a glass panel, and a conductive coating applied to the glass panel and defining a serpentine conductive path on the glass panel. The merchandiser also includes a power supply in electrical communication with the conductive coating to heat the glass panel along the serpentine conductive path.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Inventors: John M. Publication number: 20080016896Abstract: A refrigeration system including a compressor, a condenser, and an evaporator in heat exchange relationship with a fluid deliverable to a space. The evaporator is connected to the condenser via an inlet line and to the compressor via a suction line. A refrigeration circuit is defined by the compressor, condenser, inlet line, evaporator, and suction line. A refrigeration mode of the refrigeration circuit transfers heat from the fluid to a refrigerant in the evaporator and accumulates frost on the evaporator. The evaporator, a bypass line connected to the suction line and to the inlet line, a portion of the suction line, and a portion of the inlet line define a defrost circuit that circulates refrigerant in a defrost mode to transfer heat from the refrigerant to the frost on the evaporator. The refrigerant flows by gravity from the evaporator to one of the portion of the suction line and the portion of the inlet line in the defrost mode.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2006Publication date: January 24, 2008Applicant: HUSSMANN CORPORATIONInventors: John M. Rasch, Norm L. Downs, Rodney W. Temm
