  • Publication number: 20150255652
Abstract: An article of manufacture includes an active solar area having a number of photovoltaic (PV) cell sets. Each of the PV cell sets includes one or more PV cells, and has a PV cell set area. Each of the PV cell sets includes a spacing distribution, where the spacing distribution is such that a geometric shape having a predetermined characteristic area value cannot be positioned to cover an area greater than a reverse biasing fraction of the PV cell set area corresponding to the PV cell set.

  • Patent number: 8061553
Abstract: A packaging container with a base and a cover hinged together is provided. Base and cover are hinged together by first and second cooperating formations formed integrally with the base and the cover. One of the first and second cooperating formations provide sockets and the other cooperating formations provide pin portions removably receivable in the sockets to be rotatable therein to allow the cover to be rotated relative to the base between an open position and a closed position. Number and locations of the first and second formations are such that one or more are used for hinging, while others provide structural support between the base and the cover when the container is in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 7259712
Abstract: An antenna assembly suitable for use with a microwave-based level measurement system mounted on a vessel. The antenna assembly comprises a rod antenna having a mounting member with an integral sealing ring. The antenna is molded from a conductive polymer such as PTFE. The sealing ring is also formed from the same polymer as the antenna. The sealing ring may be formed as an integral component of the mounting member molded from a polymer material or as a separate ring element which is welded or otherwise affixed to the mounting member. The antenna assembly is coupled to the level measurement apparatus using a clamping mechanism. As the clamping mechanism is secured to the mounting member, the sealing ring is compressed and deflected and in the compressed state provides a seal between the level measurement apparatus and the section of antenna extending into the vessel. According to another embodiment, the antenna assembly is adapted for and mounted in a horn antenna.

  • Patent number: 6527135
Abstract: A water resistant enclosure providing protection to electrical or electronic equipment contained therein includes a three-sided removable cover pivotally coupled to a wall mounting bracket that includes a back panel-base plate combination. The three-sided removable cover further includes an enclosure door that covers the front opening. The three-sided removable cover also includes features to provide for water resistance. These features include an overhang extension from the top side wall of the three-sided removable cover extending to partially cover the front opening and in particular to cover the seam created between the enclosure door and the removable cover, and a gutter surrounding the front opening to divert water therefrom. In addition, the three-sided removable cover and the wall mounting bracket include elements to provide for the proper alignment and orientation thereof when being mated together.

  • Patent number: 6400567
Abstract: An enclosure that includes at least first and second pieces of equipment having separate cooling airflows. A baffle is disposed within the enclosure to separate the enclosure into two compartments and to isolate the airflows for each piece of equipment within each of the respective compartments. The baffle includes a step portion to provide for a smooth airflow and to prevent hot spots from being formed on the baffle. The heated airflow from the second compartment is redirected away from the first compartment to an air duct or chimney that transports the heated air from the second compartment to an air output vent. When acting as a chimney, the air duct includes a flue portion, a buffer portion to enhance the convection draft, and an output opening. The separate airflows may be either convection driven or be a forced airflow driven by one or more fans.

  • Patent number: 6321253
Abstract: A system and method for distributing and managing the flow of information between a plurality of networks uses a device that can receive voice and data signals simultaneously through a single communication point from a remote integrated voice/data network and distribute these signals to one or more end terminals connected to a local network. The device has a specific telephone number and an IP address for receiving voice and data signals from the remote network. Upon receiving voice and/or data signals, the device determines which end terminal connected to the local network is to receive the incoming signal and routes the signal to the appropriate terminal. The device can also transmit voice and data signals from the local network to the remote network and serve as a firewall for both incoming and outgoing transmissions.

  • Patent number: 5914858
Abstract: A baffle arrangement, interposed between a series of modules of electronic components and a fan, helps to improve the evenness of flow of air drawn through the components by the fan. The baffle arrangement comprises a series of channels. A first half of the channels runs from one end of the series of modules, across approximately half of the modules. A second half of the channels runs from approximately half-way across the series of modules to the other end of the series of modules. There is a gap between each channel and an adjacent channel of approximately the width of a channel. The first half of the channels is offset from the second half of the channels by approximately the width of a channel such that no channel from the first half of channels is collinear with a channel from the second half of channels. Air drawn up from a module into a channel must flow along the channel to the end of the channel (approximately mid-way across the series of modules) before being drawn into the fan.

  • Patent number: 5562846
Abstract: Making a mold part by a growth process in which polymerizable plastic material is converted into polymerized plastic material at selected regions and, during the growth process, cooling passages are formed. The growth process is provided by polymerizing succeeding layers of plastic material, adjacent layers being bonded together. Also provided is a mold part made by the growth process.

  • Patent number: 4937877
Abstract: A modular microphone assembly housed in a handsfree telephone apparatus provides an environment that is isolated from a loudspeaker installed within the apparatus and through which environment the directional and frequency response characteristics of a directional microphone capsule contained within a closable cavity of a microphone mounting receptacle in the assembly are altered via a predetermined internal surface configuration of the receptacle to improve the performance of the apparatus.
