  • Publication number: 20060258755
Abstract: Provided is a sevoflurane anesthetic product which can remain substantially undegraded after long periods of storage, as well as a method for preparing the product. The product comprises sevoflurane in a glass container having a water content of less than 130 ppm. The method comprises drying sevoflurane having a water content of greater than 130 ppm to a water content les than 130 ppm. A preferred method of drying comprises contacting a sevoflurane composition having a water content of greater than 130 ppm with alumina-containing molecular sieves such that the water content is reduced to less than 130 ppm.

  • Publication number: 20050257790
Abstract: A method and system for the application of molecular sieves to the removal of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide from the patient expired gases during anesthesia. The system is especially useful in anesthesia using any of the halogenated ether inhalation anesthetic agents. The expired gases are dried using a non-reactive desiccant to remove water, passed through a filter capable of removing particles larger than 0.3 microns, passed through a bed containing either natural or synthetic molecular sieves capable of removing carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide and then returned to the breathing circuit for recirculation to the patient.

  • Publication number: 20050169434
Abstract: A targeting system, which provides an adjustable optical assembly, for use with imaging systems having a penetrating beam source, a penetrating beam receiver. The optical assembly has a targeting marker in the path of a penetrating beam emitted by the source. The targeting marker is at least partially opaque to the penetrating beam emitted by the source, and the targeting marker indicates a targeting point on a target axis. The optical assembly further includes a sensible targeting beam device that is capable of providing a sensible targeting beam coaxial and collinear with the target axis. In addition, there is provide a method of aligning the targeting system, such as the system described above, and a method of targeting an area of interest. One advantage of the system and method is that it requires only a two point alignment.

  • Patent number: 4727985
Abstract: A bottle (12), which has a single circular opening (12f) at the top (12e), contains a liquid (32) in a bottom chamber (12h) and a powder (26) in an upper chamber (12d). A rubber stopper (14) exists in a neck chamber (12g) between the upper (12d) and lower (12h) chambers and isolates the liquid (32) from the powder (26). The neck chamber (12g) has a smaller cross-sectional area than the lower chamber (12h). A cylindrical basket (16) with openings in the side walls (16a) sits on top of the rubber stopper (14). A cylindrical rubber dispenser plunger (18) having a sealing portion (18a) sits above the basket (16). A locking cap (22) sits on top of the dispenser plunger (18). A septum cap (24) having vent holes (24c) sits on top of the locking cap (22 ). A sealing disc (26) sits on top of the septum cap (24). A cup-like top cap (28) covers the top of the bottle (12). Shrink wrap (32) adheres to the top cap (28) and part of the outside of the bottle (12).
