  • Patent number: 4756123
Abstract: A door which may undergo rotational as well as vertical and horizontal movement relative to a door frame is provided. The door is provided with a lifting means which includes a slide plate which may be vertically displaced relative to the door. A lever is pivotally mounted on the door with one end having a roller which engages a slot on the slide plate and the other end having a roller which engages a block mounted on the door frame. The vertical displacement of the slide plate causes the lever's roller to ride in the slot until the roller reaches the end of the slot at which point the slide plate causes the lever to lift the door relative to the door frame. To accommodate such door movement, the door is provided with a hinge which includes a clevis mounted on the door frame which includes a lower section having a bearing surface and an upper section having an internal cavity. The internal cavity includes an internal shoulder area and slots which communicate with the lower area of the upper clevis section.

  • Patent number: 4745708
Abstract: Apparatus for securing a door of a vessel capable of maintaining pressure therein to its end frame is provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of spring-biased swing hooks pivotally mounted on the end frame which each have a cam surface adjacent the end frame and a hook surface on the opposite side thereof. A corresponding plurality of latch hooks each having a latch surface is provided on the outer portion of the door. A plurality of wedge bars are mounted for horizontal sliding movement on the outer surface of the door toward and away from the corresponding swing hook and are each provided with a cam surface thereon. In the operation of the instant apparatus, the wedge bars are extended toward the respective swing hooks such that the cam surfaces on the wedge bars engage the cam surfaces of the swing hooks thereby rotating the swing hooks against their spring bias.

  • Patent number: 4607760
Abstract: A door closure system for a pressurized chamber is provided. The door system includes a hinge affixed to the chamber housing which supports a transverse door beam of the door. An inner door plate is supported by a handwheel driven screw rotatably mounted to the door beam. As such, the door plate is displaceable between sealing, chamber opening confronting and open positions by the handwheel. A cam finger is provided on the door plate and the free end of the door beam is formed into latch hooks. A spring-biased swing latch is provided adjacent the chamber opening on the side of the chamber opposite the hinge means. The swing latch includes a latch bar and a recessed cam area. Accordingly, when the door plate is rotated into its confronting position and the handwheel is turned thereby advancing the door plate relative to the chamber opening, the cam finger is caused to ride in the recessed cam area of the swing latch.

  • Patent number: 4583655
Abstract: A guide mechanism for use with apparatus for opening and closing a door of a chamber includes a way system for aligning the door with the chamber while the door is being opened and closed and a carriage member operatively linked to the way system for linking the door to the way system when the door is open. The carriage member includes a plurality of pins adapted to receive a portion of the apparatus when the apparatus moves the door into an open position to engage the door to the carriage member. Means are provided to coordinate the operation of the pins and the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4512106
Abstract: A device for indicating the failure of one of the cables in a redundant cable system for assisting the movement of a closure which includes means for so connecting each of the cables to a counterweight suspended therefrom that the counterweight is maintained at a first distance from the closure when both cables are intact and the counterweight so moves to a second distance from the closure when one of the two cables fails that the counterweight can move into a position for inhibiting the raising of the closure, thereby indicating the failure of one of the cables. The second distance is greater than the first distance. The connecting means is a pivoting member having two arms, each being adapted for sliding attachment to one of the cables.

  • Patent number: 4286353
Abstract: A multi-element connection for structural members adapted to connect the structural members in co-linear arrangement and to automatically lock these members in such position, which connection is adapted to be rotated or folded to bring such structural members into such co-linear or lapped position with respect to each other, the connection being comprised of a latch element secured or integral with one of the members and a clevis element secured or integral with another of said members, the latch element having a cam surface and an arcuate notch with end abutments whereby a latching member in said clevis element may ride on the cam surface and be brought into engagement with said notch to lock said elements and co-joined structural members.

  • Patent number: 4216597
Abstract: A picture retaining clip for use at the corners and along the sides of a back-loading picture frame, which clip also may serve as a means for hanging the frame. The clip is a strip of resilient material with a central web and bent ends. When the clip is mounted at the corners of the frame, a tab at each end of the clip abuts a forwardly raised ridge at the rear of the frame. When the clip is mounted along the side of the frame, a flange formed along the central web of the clip abuts either a forwardly raised ridge at the rear of the frame or a rearwardly raised ridge along the front of the frame. A hole and serrations in the central web of the clip receive hooks, nails, wire, and the like for hanging the frame.
