  • Patent number: 6030501
Abstract: A papermaking apparatus such as a Fourdrinier table which includes a long blade and a trail blade. In the first aspect of the invention, the long blade includes an upper undulated surface with vents passing from the upper undulated surface to the lower surface of the long blade which is at substantially atmospheric pressure. In the second aspect of the invention, the trail blade includes an elevator-type device for adjusting the vertical position of the trail blade. In a third aspect of the invention, a single elevator is used to adjust the angle of the blade, the blade is provided as a modular or multiple-piece design, mounting buttons are used to engage slots of T-shaped cross section in the blade and/or ceramic inserts are included at wear points.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 11, 1999
Date of Patent: February 29, 2000
    Assignee: Thermo Fibertek Inc.
Inventors: John A. Neun, Jeffrey P. Bachand, Keith Carlton, Daniel Grogan

  • Patent number: 5681430
Abstract: The apparatus of the present invention is a papermaking machine with a forming fabric in a looped configuration. The forming fabric carries paper stock through the papermaking process. The forming fabric passes over a liquid-filled cavity which is bounded on its lower surface by a flexible non-permeable membrane. A roll with regular protrusions underneath the membrane is rotated to vertically excite the membrane, the liquid-filled cavity, and, subsequently, the paper stock in order to disperse the paper stock into a random orientation.

  • Patent number: 4872337
Abstract: A gear evaluation system which includes means for measuring gear rotational speed and gear case vibrational displacement associated with gear mesh action. A signal is displacement associated with gear mesh action. A signal is developed that represents the time series average signal synchronized to the relevant gear shaft speed. This signal is passed through a bandpass filter set to pass a signal at the gear mesh frequency (for the particular gear under evaluation). After rectification the output signal provides information relating to average vibrational levels associated with gear mesh action and deviations from the average levels.
