  • Publication number: 20080230244
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for moving a scraping device are provided. The scraping device has a frame, a blade attached to the bottom of the frame, a tongue attached to a front end of the frame and a beam attached to a back end of the frame. Tires are connected to the beam. The scraping device has a front lift mechanism at the front end of the frame and/or a rear lift mechanism at the back end of the frame. The front lift mechanism has a front cylinder connected to the tongue and the front end of the frame. The rear lift mechanism has a rear cylinder attached to the back end of the frame. Movement of the front cylinder and the rear cylinder results in raising and/or lowering of the corresponding ends of the frame of the scraping device. Raising and/or lowering of the front end and/or the back end of the frame adjusts the angle of the frame relative to the ground, adjusts the angle of the blade relative to the ground and/or adjusts the ground clearance of the scraping device.

Abstract: A scraping device, a system and a method for collecting a material are provided. The scraping device may have a bowl having a first end and a second end. A lip may be positioned at the first end and may cover an opening at the first end. In an embodiment, direct mounted cylinders may be attached to the lip and may move the lip to completely cover or uncover the opening. The scraping device may have a tongue mounted to the bowl having a triangular-shaped plate mechanism that may be used to raise and to lower a cutting edge attached to the bowl. Cylinders connected to the mechanism may be retracted or extended to raise or to lower the scraping device. A load within the scraping device may be lifted by force exerted from a barrel end of a cylinder, thus utilizing a maximum potential of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6769859
Abstract: An ejector truck requires an ejector mechanism to remove hauled material from the ejector truck body. Often, these ejector mechanisms are costly and require precise manufacturing and maintenance because they include a telescoping linear actuator. The present invention provides a method and apparatus of a multi-actuator ejection mechanism. The multi-actuator ejection mechanism includes an anchor member, an ejection carriage, an ejector blade, a first linear actuator, and a second linear actuator. The ejector blade is located a predetermined distance from the anchor member and is adapted to move longitudinally with respect to the anchor member. The first linear actuator has a first end secured to the anchor member and a second end secured to the ejection carriage, and is adapted to move the ejection carriage longitudinally with respect to the anchor member.

  • Patent number: 6719349
Abstract: Trucks and other work machines require strong and easily operated and maintained tailgate assemblies. Often, the operating structure of the tailgate assembly requires precise alignment and relatively large clearance space to operate effectively. The operating structure is also commonly under great stresses from the tension and compression forces that power the operating structure to move the tailgate. A tailgate assembly including a tailgate and an; operating structure is provided. The tailgate is attached to a platform in a hinge d manner and allowed to move pivotally with respect to the platform. The operating structure includes a linear actuator and a linking member. The linear actuator is attached to the platform. The linking member has a first end portion pivotally attached to the linear actuator, a fulcrum pivotally attached to the platform, and a second end portion attached to a tracking member. The tracking member is adapted to contact the tailgate and to move vertically with respect to the tailgate.

  • Patent number: 6672822
Abstract: An ejecting device for a dump truck has a truck bed with a bed surface, a pair of side walls, and a pivotally moveable tailgate. The ejecting device has a pair of guide rails, one each mounted to a top edge of the side walls of the bed. A generally vertically oriented ejector plate is disposed between the side walls extending transversely there across and has a roller member assembly attached to each side edge. The roller assemblies are carried one in each of the guide rails. The ejector plate is moveable between a fully retracted position at a first end of the truck bed to a fully extended position at a second end of the truck bed adjacent the tailgate. An extendable cylinder is carried on the truck frame and attached to the ejector plate for moving the plate between the fully retracted position and the fully extended position to eject material from the bed.

  • Publication number: 20030019642
Abstract: An apparatus has a frame with wheels and a plurality of discs, and a method for using the same is provided. More specifically, the apparatus has an assembly such that the bearings and tires may remain lubricated with minimal maintenance. The frame may have dual cylinders such that the frame may be adjusted during use. The cylinders may be adjusted by an individual by a remote controller such that a single operator may remotely control the elevation of the apparatus and/or the angle of the apparatus with the soil. Alternatively, one of the cylinders may automatically adjust to the terrain. Further, the apparatus has a rotatable connector such that the apparatus may be attached to a tractor by an individual.

  • Patent number: 6176673
Abstract: A work machine having a receptacle adapted to receive and carry loads is disclosed. The receptacle has a first lateral sidewall, a second lateral sidewall spaced apart from the first lateral sidewall, and a floor extending between the first lateral sidewall and the second lateral sidewall. The work machine further includes a tailgate which extends transversely from the first sidewall to the second sidewall, the tailgate being pivotable between a closed position which prevents loads from exiting a rear portion of the receptacle, and an open position which allows loads to exit the rear portion of the receptacle. The work machine yet further includes a cylinder movable between a first rod position and a second rod position and a linkage. The linkage of the tailgate in the closed position when the cylinder is located in the first rod position, and positions the tailgate in the open position when the cylinder is located in the second rod position.

  • Patent number: 6155776
Abstract: A method of controlling movement of an ejector plate and a tailgate which are operatively associated with a receptacle of a work machine is disclosed. The method includes the step of supplying pressurized fluid via a first fluid line to (i) a first intake port of a multi-stage cylinder, and (ii) a second intake port of a single-stage cylinder. The method further includes the step of moving the ejector plate a first distance with the multi-stage hydraulic cylinder between from a retracted position toward an extended position in response to the supplying step. The method yet further includes the step of preventing movement of the tailgate during the ejector plate first distance moving step. The method still further includes the step of moving the ejector plate a second distance with the multi-stage hydraulic cylinder toward the extended position in response to the supplying step. The ejector plate second distance moving step is performed after the ejector plate first distance moving step.
