  • Publication number: 20240139531
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for generating pulse pacing in a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (“WCD”). In one aspect the WCD circuitry includes a power source such as a battery coupled to a charger that provides charge energy to an energy storage module. Control circuitry is operatively coupled to the charger and the output circuitry, and configured to cause the WCD circuitry to generate pacing pulses delivered to therapy electrodes (attached to an ambulatory patient) without a current source. The WCD circuitry includes one or more processing elements that are used to execute instructions provided by one or more software modules that are configured to support various functionality, including controlling generation of pacing pulses.

  • Publication number: 20240099815
Abstract: Structured surfaces are described. In one embodiment, the structured surface comprises a plurality of structures having a complement cumulative slope magnitude distribution (Fcc) such that at least 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90% of structures have a slope greater than 10 degrees; and less than 80% of the structures have a slope greater than 35 degrees. In other embodiments, the structures comprise peaks and valleys defined by a Cartesian coordinate system such that the peaks and valleys have a width and length in the x-y plane and a height in the z-direction and at least a portion of the peaks and/or valleys vary in height in the y direction and/or the x-direction by at least 10% of the average height. Articles and methods are also described.

  • Publication number: 20150157374
Abstract: A bone plate system is provided that permits rapid, secure stabilization of a plurality of bones, such as portions of a cut rib. The bone plate system includes a bone plate having anchor devices for securing the bone plate to, for example, cortical bone of the cut rib portions. The anchor devices have an open configuration that permits the anchor devices to be connected to the cortical bone of the cut rib portions and a clamping configuration that fixes the bone plate to the cortical bone of the cut portions. The bone plate connects the cut rib portions and stabilizes the cut rib portions against relative movement therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20120219926
Abstract: A flossing device cleans inside a mouth and essentially uses a water jet rather like a string of dental floss, to accomplish removal of particles between teeth. The device includes a mouthpiece that fits over the teeth. Advantageously no suction pump, nor power source, is included or needed in the device, which can be attached to a standard faucet. The device receives water from a standard faucet, which water exits the device from multiple holes in the mouthpiece.

  • Publication number: 20110318705
Abstract: The Hydro Clean Auto Floss provides a molded mouth-guard type mouthpiece configured in a U shape to conform to the contours of a set of human teeth, having a trough to receive the teeth, further comprising an irrigation water flow component at the front thereof consisting of an attachable tubing apparatus, allowing users to floss all of the teeth by means of pressurized water, at once, whether at home or on the go. A series of small circular openings are positioned along the perimeter of the mouthpiece, serving as the egress for water. At the front of the mouthpiece is positioned the attachment point for the irrigation water flow component. The irrigation water flow component comprises one central inlet nozzle, and two outlet nozzles, positioned on each side of the inlet nozzle. All of these nozzles are designed to receive tubing by means of a force fit. At the opposite end of the inlet hose is a spout adapter that is configured to accommodate most sink faucets.

  • Patent number: 6585533
Abstract: A quick disconnect electrical connector resistant to vibration-induced disconnect includes a male connector and a female connector each having opposing segments of flexible thread which inter-engage when the male and female are assembled. The thread segments of the female connector are on a flexible wall which deflects to permit mating engagement when the two connectors are pushed together. A peripheral rim is formed in the overmold of one connector and a mating groove is formed in the overmold of the other, mating connector to form a tactile indicator that the connection is complete and to secure the two mating connectors together.

The thread segments of the female connector are on a flexible wall which deflects to permit mating engagement when the two connectors are pushed together. The male and female connectors are keyed together when assembled to prevent rotation; and the flexible thread segments engage to prevent unintentional disconnect.

  • Patent number: 6103305
Abstract: A stress-relieved amorphous-diamond film is formed by depositing an amorphous diamond film with specific atomic structure and bonding on to a substrate, and annealing the film at sufficiently high temperature to relieve the compressive stress in said film without significantly softening said film. The maximum annealing temperature is preferably on the order of 650.degree. C., a much lower value than is expected from the annealing behavior of other materials.
