  • Patent number: 9842089
Abstract: A method for managing display of electronic documents is described. A user interface is generated for a visual style set of visual styles that affect display of electronic document content. A visual style of the visual style set comprises a style element set of style elements. A lock status for a style element of the style element set is received via the user interface. The lock status indicates whether the style element is editable or non-editable by a user of an electronic document associated with the visual style set. The visual style set is stored with the lock status for the style element.

  • Patent number: 6245991
Abstract: A guy wire breakaway connector for a utility pole will separate when impacted by a vehicle, to avoid damage to the vehicle or the pole, and injury to occupants of the vehicle. A pair of terminal members each has a tapered key with teeth that grip the guy wire, wedging the key against the guy wire to attach the breakaway connector. The terminal members engage one another in opposite directions, covered by a cylindrical, frangible sheath. Each terminal member has a shear surface angled to a longitudinal axis, and is disposed within a cavity in the opposite terminal member. A pivot element within each connector cavity has a beveled surface connected to the shear surface with a shear pin. The pivot elements are opposed and bear against one another in compression. A vehicle impacting the guy wire cause one the pivot elements to slide, shearing the shear pin. The terminal members will slide apart, breaking the sheath and separating the connector.

  • Patent number: 6205996
Abstract: A barbecue grill includes a fire grate to allow cooking by radiant heat only, having no holes large enough for convection flow. The grate is one piece of heat resistant steel for economy, and to vaporize grease. Peripheral flanges catch grease drips. The flanges direct convection of hot gases along the housing inside surface to vaporize grease. A small hole is for visual confirmation of flame ignition. The grate has ridges and valleys to distribute heat evenly and to radiate heat to the food from several directions. A divider wall separates the grate into two heat zones. Used with one burner of a dual-burner grill, the wall confines the hot gases and radiant energy to half of the grate to conserve fuel.

  • Patent number: 5960784
Abstract: A barbecue grill has a grill burner and a cooking grate disposed within a housing with an upper portion pivotally mounted on a lower portion. Means is provided for supporting the housing upper portion in a partial open pivotal position. A smoke incinerator is mounted on the housing upper portion, and has a burner for generating a flame. Smoke is converted to invisible exhaust gases by heating the smoke with the flame. A grill burner locking means is provided, which will prevent unignited fuel from accumulating in the housing in the event that the incinerator burner fails to ignite.

  • Patent number: 5947150
Abstract: A freezeless faucet has a body, a nozzle, and a shaft that expands and contracts thermally, moving a resilient plug. The plug has an orifice through it and a beveled surface closing and sealing against a seat beveled surface to stop water flow. Further closing force against the beveled surfaces causes the plug to compress radially inward, closing the orifice. A drop in temperature below freezing will cause the shaft to contract, reducing the plug radial compression, allowing the orifice to open and water to drip through. This prevents upstream piping from freezing. An air vent valve selectively admits air into the faucet body to allow draining of water from the body and nozzle, and to prevent siphoning of contaminants into the water supply. A shaft handwheel includes a heat sink, to shorten the thermal response time of the shaft to rapid temperature changes.

  • Patent number: 4015725
Abstract: An apparatus for lowering and raising a handicapped person from a vehicle. A post is fixedly mounted within the vehicle having a top end pivotally supporting a channel. A member is slidably and telescopically mounted to the channel with a platform pivotally mounted to the bottom end of the member. A screw extends through the channel being threadedly engaged with the member and drivingly rotated by a sprocket and chain combination in turn driven by a motor. Rotation of the screw results in the extension and retraction of the member. A bridge is pivotally mounted in the vehicle and may be swung outwardly forcing the platform outwardly of the truck. The bridge allows for a wheelchair to be moved from the vehicle across the bridge and to the platform which is then lowered. In a second embodiment, the platform is supported by a second member telescopicially mounted to a second channel in turn pivotally mounted to a second post mounted within the vehicle and aligned with the first post.

  • Patent number: 3967321
Abstract: The arm splint of an orthosis is attached to the forearm of a cervical 6 - cervical 7 motor lesion quadraplegic. The arm splint includes a thumb flange for holding the thumb of the patient, and a pivoting finger trough for holding the first and middle fingers of the patient. A Bowden cable is connected to the pivoting finger trough and is operated by a motor to cause the pivoting finger trough to pivot to close towards the thumb flange to provide finger prehension so that the patient can grasp objects. The motor is controlled by control circuitry that is operated by the patient touching a touch sensitive contact that is typically mounted on the arm rest of a wheelchair. The control means and the motor are powered by a twelve-volt car battery carried on the wheelchair. The control means also includes a time delay so that the patient can operate the control means by touching the touch sensitive contact and then move the arm and hand to a position ready for grasping.
