Patents by Inventor John R. Berschied

John R. Berschied has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 5508028
Abstract: This invention provides an antiperspirant-deodorant cosmetic stick product consisting of a solid organic matrix which contains a homogenous dispersion of particulate antiperspirant and deodorant ingredients. A deodorant cosmetic stick product is also provided which does not contain an antiperspirant ingredient. The solid organic matrix and dispersed particle phases have densities which are sufficiently matched to prevent setting of the dispersed particles during manufacture, and to provide a cosmetic stick product with dimensional stability.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 22, 1993
Date of Patent: April 16, 1996
Assignee: Church & Dwight Co., Inc.

  • Patent number: 5443822
Abstract: This invention provides an improved antiperspirant-deodorant cosmetic stick product. An essential aspect of the cosmetic stick product is a content of particulate antiperspirant and alkali metal bicarbonate ingredients, at least one of which has ingredient particle surfaces coated with a hydrophilic organic polymer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 12, 1993
Date of Patent: August 22, 1995
Assignee: Church & Dwight Co., Inc.

  • Patent number: 5354553
Abstract: This invention provides an improved process for producing an antiperspirant-deodorant cosmetic stick product. An essential aspect of the process improvement is a phased order of ingredient addition and blending of formulation ingredients under controlled temperature conditions. Another essential aspect is the incorporation of particulate antiperspirant and alkali metal bicarbonate ingredients, at least one of which has ingredient particle surfaces coated with a hydrophilic organic polymer.

  • Patent number: 5318773
Abstract: Dentrifices, including toothpastes or dental creams, gels and tooth powders, incorporating alkali metal pyrophosphate salts and sodium bicarbonate in amounts effective to inhibit calculus formation on teeth. The sodium bicarbonate improves the calculus inhibiting properties of the pyrophosphate salts, permits the use of smaller quantities of pyrophosphate than required in the absence of the bicarbonate adjuvant, allows the formulation of pyrophosphate containing dentrifices without the need of use unpleasant tasting potassium pyrophosphates to prevent grittiness, and salts-out the pyrophosphate as undisolved tetrasodium pyrophosphate decahydrate in the form of relatively small particles which do not impart a gritty mouth feel upon use of the dentrifice.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 19, 1993
Date of Patent: June 7, 1994
Assignee: Church & Dwight Co., Inc.
Inventors: Anthony E. Winston, Regina M. Miskewitz, Darlene R. Walley, John R. Berschied
