  • Patent number: 4633232
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a personal alarm device which can be used for a variety of alarm purposes. In one application, the device is used to sound an alarm when there is an impending attack. This is accomplished, after cocking of the alarm, by simply releasing a removable member which falls away. In another application of the device, the alarm can be carried in a purse or other receptacle and is effective to sound the alarm if the purse is moved away from the hand of the user. In still another application, the device may be used to detect the opening of a window or the relative movement of two members which are normally in substantial engagement with each other. In still another arrangement, the device is used for detecting the withdrawal of the latch bolt of a door. The device employs an electrically-operated alarm, a battery and two switches, all mounted within a housing.

  • Patent number: 4524875
Abstract: A derrick crane has a jib pivoted by way of a horizontal pivot to the movable member of a bearing device supported by a vertically extending mast and includes devices for raising and lowering a load, luffing the jib and slewing the jib about the mast. The bearing device comprises a single ring of free running balls which are a running fit in part circular registering grooves formed in inner and outer bearing rings. • Patent number: 4365573
Abstract: A ship's steering gear of the type operated by liquid under pressure incorporates two liquid systems each containing a pump fed from its own supply tank and a thruster unit capable of providing by itself steering action on a steering member. The two systems are interconnected by way of an isolating valve device. Each tank contains a liquid detecting device arranged on a drop of liquid level in that tank first to close the isolating valve device and on further drop of liquid level to stop the pump fed from the tank and start the pump in the other liquid system if it is not operating already.
