  • Patent number: 9337878
Abstract: A dual watch receiver is provided that, when operating in a single watch mode, receives a radio frequency (RF) signal, determines a signal quality metric associated with a received RF signal, and based on the determined signal quality metric, determines whether to route a same RF signal to only a first receiver path or to both of the first receiver path and a second receiver path, wherein the first receiver path and second receiver path process a received RF signal in parallel.

  • Patent number: 7202815
Abstract: A location determination device (104) is worn on a user's head to facilitate searching and tracking for another individual carrying a portable radio (102) as well as locating exit routes. At least two antennas (108), a monopulse receiver (110) and a display are integrated into the location determination device (104). Location determination device (104) scans for an incoming signal (106) from the portable device (102) and coverts the signal into angular location data. The location data and egress information are displayed to the peripheral vision of the user of the location determination device (104).

  • Publication number: 20040146118
Abstract: A method for suppressing a carrier in a quadrature modulator includes applying a first set of four correction signal pairs to a quadrature modulator and detecting a first set of four output signals, identifying a first optimum correction signal pair among the first set of four correction signal pairs, and applying the first optimum correction signal pair to the quadrature modulator for suppressing a carrier. An apparatus for suppressing a carrier in a quadrature modulator includes an amplifier, a radio frequency detector coupled to the amplifier, an analog-to-digital converter coupled to the radio frequency detector, a correction circuit coupled to the analog-to-digital converter; the correction circuit performing a search algorithm during a training period and determining a pair of channel correction values for suppressing a carrier; and a pair of summers coupled to the correction circuit.

  • Patent number: 5561395
Abstract: A method and apparatus (100) is for providing self adjustment of a multistage radio frequency power amplifier (RFPA) (200). The apparatus (100) includes a transmit input stage (150) and a controller (110). Included in the multistage RFPA (200) are N RFPA stages (201) coupled in parallel to an N-way RF splitter (210) and to an N-way RF combiner (220), and a power sense stage (225) which generates a forward power sense signal (167). Each of the N RFPA stages (210) includes an adjustable power amplifier (PA) (300). The controller (110) optimizes a gain match and a phase match of the multistage RFPA (200) by adjusting signals which are coupled to each adjustable PA (300). The adjustments are made in response to the forward power sense signal (167) while the controller (110) controls the test input stage (150) which generates a predetermined test signal (155).

  • Patent number: 5515365
Abstract: A first transmitter (103) reduces an interference in a time division duplex (TDD) communication system (100). The first transmitter (103) alternates from a transmit state in which a first information signal (130) is transmitted to a standby state in which a residual signal (132) is transmitted. The first transmitter (103) includes a transmitter section (142) and a controller (141). The transmitter section (142 transmits the first information signal (130) and the residual signal (132). The transmitter section (142) includes a power amplifier (144) to amplify the first information signal (130) and the residual signal (132) to a power level; and an exciter (143) to control a carrier frequency of the first information signal (130) and the residual signal (132). The controller (141) is coupled to the power amplifier (144) and the exciter (143), for adjusting the power level and setting the carrier frequency.
