  • Patent number: 4971378
Abstract: A pivoted automobile partition is described including an adjustable spring bias means for adjusting the force of a coil spring which pivots the partition from a lowered position to a raised position. The adjustment means includes a threaded pivot shaft which is connected to one end of the coil spring and is adjusted into different rotational positions to change the tension of such spring. The pivot shaft is fixed in its adjusted position to a pivot arm on the partition by lock nuts. A tubular housing and plastic cover sleeve completely enclose the spring bias means so that it cannot be tampered with and cannot injure rear seat passengers.

  • Patent number: 4595227
Abstract: A motor vehicle partition apparatus is disclosed suitable for use in a motor vehicle such as a two door automobile. The partition apparatus includes three longitudinally offset sections--a forward section, a rearward and an intermediate section therebetween. The forward partition section is mounted in the position normally occupied by the front passenger seat which is removed. The rearward partition section is mounted behind the driver's seat spaced horizontally and rearwardly of the forward section along the longitudinal axis of the automobile by a longitudinal offset space. The intermediate partition section is connected between the forward section and the rearward section diagonally across the longitudinal offset space. A vertical sliding window is provided in the intermediate partition section and fixed windows are mounted in the forward and rearward partition sections. As a result, a partition apparatus having a generally Z-shaped horizontal cross-section is provided.

  • Patent number: 4015875
Abstract: An automobile partition apparatus is described including a curved vertical sliding partition window which, to provide greater rear seat legroom, is mounted on vertically curved tracks attached to the front surface of a shield plate separate from and located behind the front seat backrest. The shield plate and partition are attached to a roll bar to form an integral unit which is removably mounted on the body of the automobile to enable the unit to be removed without damage for use on another automobile. The window slides vertically between a closed position above the shield and an open position below the top of the shield where such window is located between the shield and the front seat backrest. The legs of the roll bar are curved to provide more head and shoulder room for rear seat passengers. A simple and compact window raising mechanism is mounted on the front of the shield which employs a flexible line having one end attached to the partition window.
