Patent number: 7017730Abstract: A bidirectional article pusher for a conveying system, which includes a multiplicity of spaced rollers for moving articles along a longitudinal path. There is a push up stop arranged below the conveyor and movable between adjacent rollers to a position above the rollers to stop forward movement of an article which is on the rollers. There are lateral stations, one on each side of a section of the conveying system, and lateral diverters move articles which are on the rollers and stopped by the push up stop, to a position off of the rollers and out of the longitudinal path and at a right angle to the longitudinal path. A stop activator is controlled based upon information, such as that on a bar code sort label on an article and which has been previously provided to the control device upstream of the push up stop. There are three jam detection/correction devices provided to assure proper operation. One is a proximity sensor to detect the presence of the pusher fingers while in their home position.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2003Date of Patent: March 28, 2006Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: Shane F. Mills, Thomas A. Arnold, Michael E. Caporali, John Rasile, Brian F. Sharkey

Patent number: 6659046Abstract: An Elizabethan collar is circular in shape having an outer periphery. A central aperture forms an opening for the animal's head. The collar is inflatable, either having a valve filling the collar or a circular bladder placed within the collar and having a valve extending through the cover of the collar for access by the user. In addition to being inflatable, a foam layer may be provided in the collar or the collar may be permanently preinflated without a valve. With the provision of a valve, the foam can be compressed and the valve closed. With the valve closed, the foam will not re-expand until the user opens the valve. This allows the collar to assume a compact configuration when not in use. The collar can be split from the inner periphery formed by the central aperture to the outer periphery of the collar. The two edges formed by the split are joined to one another. The split allows the collar to be put around the animal's neck without sliding the collar over the animal's head.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2002Date of Patent: December 9, 2003Inventors: Linda Anne Schmid, John A. Rasile

Patent number: 6419074Abstract: A conveying system for conveying articles, each having a label with indicia, on one end, either a leading or a trailing end. There is a conveyor having multiple sections, each defining a longitudinal conveying path for moving the articles. Each is driven independently from the other sections. The conveyor has a plurality of tray sensors, with at least one on each conveyor section for detecting whether there is a tray on that section. There is also a scanner which detects whether a tray moving along the conveyor has a label on its leading end or its trailing end. A turning arm conveyor section is located downstream from the scanner and arranged to receive control signals from the scanner for momentarily intercepting all articles which are determined by the detector to have the label on the incorrect end. This turning arm conveyor has a turning arm, and a limit stop arranged to prevent the articles moved angularly from being moved further than desired.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2000Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: John Rasile, Michael E. Patent number: 6044802Abstract: A veterinary recovery collar prevents an animal from licking or biting wounds, sores or stitches on its body and scratching its head with its paws. The collar has the shape of a round pillow with a central aperture. A shawl extends into the central aperture and has a drawstring. The collar is placed over the animal's head and is retained in place by drawing, or pulling, the drawstring that is laced through the shawl. The resulting collar creates a substantive barrier, preventing the animal from reaching its body with its head, or reaching its head with its paws. The collar is soft, comfortable and affords the animal freedom of mobility, an unimpaired field of vision, and the ability to carry on most normal activities.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1999Date of Patent: April 4, 2000Assignee: The Bonafido Company, Inc.Inventors: Linda Anne Schmid, John A. Patent number: 5791295Abstract: A training leash for use with an animal neck collar including a band having a first end and a second end, the band having a length defined between the first end and the second end. A first ring is mounted on the first end of the band, a first portion of the length of the band being received through the first ring, defining a loop encircling a torso of an animal. A second ring is slidingly mounted on the band and mounted on the collar. A second portion of the length of the band, between the first ring and the second ring, defines a distance which varies as a tension of the band varies. Other embodiments and a method also are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1996Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Inventors: Linda Anne Schmid, John A. Rasile

Patent number: 4398993Abstract: A neutralization process is provided for neutralizing chloride ions in etched via holes in multilayer printed circuit boards. The process comprises two dip operations of the board in a Neutra-Clean and water solution which is continuously re-circulated. This is followed by subjecting the board to a heated de-ionized cascaded water feed, an ambient overflow de-ionized water rinse, and conveyorized air drying. The Neutra-Clean solution has the ability to penetrate down to the bottom of the via hole and to attract the free chloride ions from the etchant residue. The de-ionized water feed and rinse steps rinse out and remove the Neutra-Clean solution and any residuals formed by chemical reaction.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1982Date of Patent: August 16, 1983Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David W. Patent number: 4160691Abstract: Chromium/copper/chromium conductor lines and glass-chromium cermet resistor structures are formed on a substrate by a subtractive etch process in which undercutting of the top chromium layer and changes in the resistivity of the cermet are minimized by etching the chromium with a mixture of a low concentration (about 5 to 20% by volume) of concentrated (37%) HCl in about 65 to 95% by volume of an aliphatic alcohol such as glycerine with the remainder, if any, to make 100% being water at an elevated temperature of from about 50.degree. to 95.degree. C.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1977Date of Patent: July 10, 1979Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Oscar R. Abolafia, John Rasile

Patent number: 4131516Abstract: A ceramic substrate is provided with via holes and these holes are primed by first depositing a palladium coating to the inside surface of the holes and then depositing an iron film onto the palladium. The primed holes are then completely filled with copper to provide conductive connections between opposite surfaces of the substrate. On one side of the substrate, input/output connector pins are brazed to the copper fillings. On the other side, printed circuitry is applied to produce a circuit module.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1977Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Peter Bakos, John Rasile

Patent number: 4072816Abstract: A prepunched copper/dielectric laminate ground plane assembly is positioned on a metallized ceramic substrate having printed circuits on the surface thereof and provided with a plurality of circuit connection pins. Connection between the ground plane and the circuit connection pins is achieved by welding or soldering of bonding elements between selected pins, which also provides mechanical attachment of the ground plane to the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1976Date of Patent: February 7, 1978Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Ronald W. Gedney, John Rasile
