The system includes an identification tag, such as a band, that is attached to the decedent's body and that cannot be removed without destroying the integrity of the identification tag or mutilating the body. Additionally, the identification tag remains intact throughout the burial preparation process, and further remains intact upon burial or other disposal of the body, such as by cremation. The identification tag also provides a system for tracking the body.
