  • Patent number: 9739489
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a monitoring system including a detecting device configured to detect at least one of smoke and heat, an alarm in operable communication with the detecting device, wherein the alarm is configured to notify a user after the detecting device detects at least one of smoke and heat, a sensing structure configured to determine whether a heating apparatus has a temperature that is above a threshold, and a processor in operable communication with the sensing structure and at least one of the detecting device and the alarm, the processor configured to at least one of turn off at least one of the alarm and the detecting device; and reduce the sensitivity of the detecting device, when the sensing structure determines that the heating apparatus has a temperature that is above a threshold.

  • Publication number: 20070171827
Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture to uniquely identify network application flows. Upon detecting a network application flow, data is obtained from the flow and is used to prepare a unique data identifier, referred to as a global flow ID. Multiple stations monitoring network flow at different points in the network can, with the present invention, compute the same global flow ID for local detections of the same network application flow. The monitoring stations can report flow observations and metrics to a centralized analysis resource without retransmitting the flow data.

  • Patent number: 6480508
Abstract: A Domain Name System (DNS) proxy agent of the present invention performs a name query relaying function by redirecting DNS queries and responses to their final destination address, which is unknown to the node which originated the query or response. The real source and destination nodes are known only to the DNS proxy agent. This allows network address of an Internet-based name server to be changed without the requirement to reconfigure the DNS addressed on the LAN-based host.
